new vortech already leaking oil
I'm starting to think vortech doesn't make very good superchargers.. the first one I had internally leaked oil and now my brand new one (less than 1000 miles) is also leaking oil. It is all around the impeller blades and sprays out of my bypass valve. Then it goes all through my intercooler piping and on the maf up into the intake. I guess I'll be calling vortech since it's still under warranty. I'm starting to think that all of them leak like this though and that a replacement wouldn't be any different.

Sorry to hear your bad luck. Leaks happen from time to time but usualy happens with age. It sounds like you have had some shit luck cause many people run vortechs and never have issues with leaks. I know mine ran like a top.

I see a oil catch can. If it is a self contained unit the oil is red

Most people run catch can on the line going from the pcv valve to the throttle body.. I've seen oil in my line going from the driver side to the intake

I'm running a catch can off the driver side cover. 1 year and 4 months and not a drop of oil. I bought my blower used and haven't had any issues with it.

I just think you have REALLY bad luck. You seem to have a lot of issues with that car man. Ive had my Vortech on for 18k miles with a 2.87 pulley (54000rpm at shiftpoint) and it had 2-3k on it when I bought it, with 0 issues...knock on wood.

My v3si has 20k miles on it and has never leaked a single drop..... It would be easy to identify though because the v3 synthetic is red - i think its tranny oil anyways.

I will say I dont run a catch can and I've cleaned my intercooler out a few times because it was coated in oil from the pcv. i'm just too lazy to build a catch can setup.

I have never had problems with my Vortech SC's. Plus I over spin them. Do you have your PCV going to the intake pipe? When my orginal motor was needing new rings there was a good bit of oil in the pipes.

I have a catch can routed back to the powerpipe and there was no oil in it.. just orange sludge and water. The line going to the powerpipe from the catch can was dry. When I took the powerpipe off I could see lines of oil going down the pipe from the blower inlet but no oil around the catch can line inlet. You guys that say you haven't had any problems.. have you actually taken the intake pipe off to see if there is oil? Mine functions normally except for the oil so I wouldn't have known without looking. I now have the catch can venting to atmosphere so I'll check on it later to see if there is more oil around the blower inlet. I had to clean the oil out of the maf though so I'm sure that it was affecting my tune.

I had oil leak on mine but it cuz Im not running a catch can. Sometimes after hard driving it will leak from the airfilter. But I have read on other sites that its normal.

Mine does get a little oil in the air intake on into the head unit from the PCV system but nothing horrible. I clean it out about once a month or two when I take it apart to do other stuff. I'm not running a catch can though. I run the v3si and check the oil on it once a week and I've never had to add a drop. Maybe I just got lucky. Thats was the main reason I puchased a new kit though - 3 year warranty FTW!
