leather seat care

does anyone know what the type of leather is in the 03 gt? if not than does anyone know thebest way to take care of these seats? I heard of using saddle soap ut does that actually work? it seems as though the seats are wrinkling and just wondering of a for sure way to stop it...

I'm not sure how to stop it, but I have had the same thing start happening, but what i'm gonna probably do, is just get some nice seat covers or something.

autozone and advance sells some leather cleaner and conditioner. it works good and if used often will help prevent cracking and wrinkin, i heard saddle soap has some negative effects but i am not sure.

DO NOT USE SADDLE SOAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that stuff is designed to actually take a thin layer off the leather as well as the dirt so that it looks new. it should only be used on SADDLES - not cars because the leather on our seats is so thin the saddle soap will just eat right through it and make it tear very easily.

any of the above mentioned leather cleaners work. meguiares works well.

every mustang i've ever seen has wrinkly leather seats. ford just used a crappy material. you wanna get rid of it, buy new seats.

this is gonna sound really odd. but.
Recently i bought my daughter a new softball glove and some stuff called hot glove. you rub this stuff on the leather glove stick in the oven for 4 mins and its like the glove has been broken in for 10 years! I was amazed. So i got to thinking. I wonder if I put this stuff on my leather during a really hot day with the windows up , and it gets hot in the car would this soften up my leather seats some. My car is black so it gets pretty hot inside. So I am thinking about trying this hot glove on my seats.

another thought i have had is since i have black leather seats and they are 10 yrs old, not torn either, but seem a little stiff and dry. and the wrinkles from sitting in the seats look like cracks almost even though they arent. So i was thinking about trying to use some of the black "kiwi" shoe buffing paste to condition the seats.

What do you guys think. I have heard of ppl having weirder solutions for problems that work!!

Well I would try that hot glove on a very small part first! and see if it worked at all! But I can see where you are coming from! And the KIWI stuff might work!

I use Auto Magic , I get it from a friend at a car lot . Their wax and leather care works really good. But I haven't seen anthing that stops wrinkling all together. I once got in forgeting to take my southern link radio off and the holder cut the part that's at your entree way by your ribs when your setting in it. I took it to a guy that everybody recomended here in town and he sugested to let him replace that entree way part with a vinyl piece that matched perfect and would not tend to wrinkle like leather. He said that part of the seat gets the most abuse from getting in and out. So he did it and I haven't had any problems since. He followed the same stitch line and everything and anybody I show it to can't tell. I may do all the corners later.
