coolant question - how to determine system is filled and done

heres what i did:

-drained and flushed whole system
-filled whole rad with coolant
-ran car with heater on max w/o raditor cap for a few minutes.
-car made some bubbles by radiator cap
-large hoses seemed squishy and void of coolant
-after a few minutes of running the car got to operating temperature and started atrociously spewing mass amounts of coolant out the radiator filler hole (cap was still off)
-turned car off, because that's not good and it was making a mess

My two questions:

-So am i done? Do i just put the cap back on and drive? or did i put too much or too little in? how do i determine im all good?

-Also how do i know if air bubbles are in the system, will it hurt the car or cooling system in any way?

if there is air in the system the car will over heat. not good.

sounds like the coolant was being pushed out of the radiator...i would put the cap back on, let the car cool a bit and then pull the cap and top it back off with coolant...

once you get heat inside the car it usually means the air is out...but i would take it for a short drive and keep a close eye on the temp guage because this isn't always the case

well i think i got the air out, there was no overheating, heat works 100% I also drove for about 5 min and the temp gauge stayed exactly in the middle. Should i be good as long as i periodically check the levels?

should be fine. probably got the air out after you shut the car off and it cooled...

just make sure the radiator is full...

I know this is going to sound crazy, but jack the front end up while purging the air---it helps.
