MAF

anyone using a granatelli lighting maf? My reasoning for asking this is because the lighting maf doesnt have the IAT sensor so how did you guys fix this problem?

why do you need a new maf? if your looking to use it for fi i would look into a better maf than the lightning maf like the hpx or the ba 5000 maf. its a little more money but worth the cost. if are set on the lightning maf you will have to run a external iat senser which is cheap and easy to install

split of the two IAT wires that goes into the factory maf and pick up an IAT sensor and run the wires to that and mount that on your discharge/intake tube a few inches before the throttle body.

Lightning maf sucks balls. I wouldnt give 50 bucks for one. Everyone runs them and even on a boosted stock motor your always at or over 900 counts. There is every little room to grow. The next step is a mafia which works ok but why have 2 devices when you can just purchase 1 maf. My opinion and personal experience from dealing with ALOT of different mafs is the PMAS HPX is about the best off the shelf maf out there. Even when mounted in places that most tuners will tell you a maf wont work they work and work GREAT. I have an HPX mounted IN AN ELBOW on my intercooler setup with zero issues an very clean signal. Actually better than my BA2400 was when it was draw thru.

Not to mention the physical structure of the HPX and many other slot mafs puts it at a huge advantage over say your typical lightening maf. I've seen HPX mafs mounted in draw thru apps with horrible maf backwash work just fine because the filement isnt just wide open like your typical maf. They are basically very difficult to backwash due to how air is channeled through the maf
