how high of compression is too high for FI?

what the title says my motor specs are in my garage. bottom line is its roughly 11:1 compression and i REALLY want more power. so is it realistic on this motor? even at a low psi?

yes, low boost is just fine and easily doable. low end tq will be favorable because of higher comperssion. you will be limited to about 8psi or so depending on tuner and fuel.

Depends on the camshaft used. Dynamic compression is what REALLY matters in these situations.

so I have never built a FI car before. looking at my garage and knowing im only looking for a max of 8psi what would you suggest a route to research for FI? and what kind of power would i be looking at? (obviously rough estimate)

Without a doubt big centri. With that cam a KB isnt really even an option. Thats honestly even too much for a centri but with the right cam selection you could run over 12lbs on pump gas.

but i was also talking about no cam change as well. it comes down to how much $$$ he is willing to spend. stg 5 cam has lot of overlap, so dynamic compression shouldnt be too bad.

Compression is probably in the hole bad honestly. He could always sell the cams and shop for some used stage 3 CMS blower cams or something else common to the market. The right blower cam wont drop much boost but it will drop the cylinder pressure. From what I've seen most guys running CMS 2 and 3 blower cams lose zero boost lol.

im willing to spend what its worth if that makes sense. i mean if im going to boost the car and only gain 100rwhp then its not worth it but if im looking at like 200rwhp by the time im done i may very well be interested in spending the money. i'd like to not modify more tan it is currently. if possible to just change my pump, injectors, and strap on a blower of some sort then id like to do that.

havent followed up on cms cams, i personally not a fan of their 2v cams. i do like some of the 4v grinds selections, but i personally still run with bullett pieces.

your power/tq will shift and change with the cams. heads, cams, intake is whats going to determine the end result. you can strap boost on it now and get good gains. but a simple cam swap itself along with required tune can make 60+rwhp difference with no other changes on boost alone.

To each their own. I've always like Jims cams but its like all things there are better and others out there. Any off the shelf cam is a sacrifice in performance really. MHS has some great grinds out there and honestly more choices than probably anyone else. Most cams for 2vs are ground by Bullet - CMS and MHS is to name a few.

slightly confused, are you saying i can pick up 60+rwhp as i am right now n/a with a different cam and tune? im on a dyno tune with stage 5 cams. or if i just strap a blower and new cams and tune ill make 60 more rwhp? thats nothing compared to the price..

Hes saying that switching from those cams to a blower specific grind for your motor will yield probably another 50+ rwhp gain.

With your standard 9-10lbs kit you will probably gain 100+ rwhp even with those cams. Switch to a good large blower grind and it will really rip.
