LED gauge cluster and AC control light conversion was a SUCCESS!

I got curious about changing my dash lights so i got on eBay and bought 10 replacement LED bulbs for my gauges for $10 and put them in last night in about 10 mins and am very pleased. No more green gauges for me! Even tho they were some cheap $10 bulbs, they look great and arent overwhelmingly bright and ive got 5 extra bulbs just in case some go out.

99-00 (maybe '01 as well)...are easy for bulb changing for color choices...but in the late new edges (the model stang from 99-04) there is a green film behind the numbers on our cluster so the light is green at night...so to change color we have to sand the film off then replace the bulbs...it's a pita which is why i'm just adding reverse glow gauges

Ahh i seen now. Yea i took mine off and looked and mine was blue on the gauge cluster and the AC control and with that hidious orangeish color halogen buld made mine green. I just bought some white LEDs and put them in and it turned my gauges blue.

if i remember how many i pulled the last time i put reverseglows on my old stang it's 5 behind the cluster and 3 in the hvac...maybe order 10-12 just to have some spares

on my sixxer i'll be doing a reverse glow setup on the gauges but i will be doing my hvac in blue to match color wise at night

Sorry i havent reposted. If you pull off the headlight knob switch there are 2 7mm bolts on the top part of the gauge bezel. its also got 4 clips that hold it in place. pull that off and then you have access to the cluster. There are 4 7mm bolts in each corner of the cluster. Take them out and you can pull out the cluster. There will be two wire plugs on the back of it. Unplug them 2 plugs and you can take the cluster out. Once you have it out u will need a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the bulbs out the cluster.you will see 5 white caps for bulbs goin in a slight curve across the back of the cluster. Use the needle nose pliers to turn turn the caps light you were unlocking a blinker bulb plug. Them out one by one or all at once and you may have to wiggles the bulbs out cause mine were stuck from being in for so long. once u pull them out you can replace them with the led bulbs. replace them all and plug the cluster back up and test them. The LED bulbs have a positive and negative wire on them so that can get turned around. No harm to them they just wont come on. Pull that bulb out the socket and flip it around and thatll fix your problem. and them you bolt her all back together and you have a LED conversion. And im new to this forum so idk how to upload pics of i would :/ and i will get the link to the place i bought mine off of. I looked on superbrightleds.com and they are exactly as the website says. super bright. I personally dont like it. too bright for night riding. mine arent stupid bright but bright enough that i can clearly see my gauges and plus i dont have to look at that ugly green lol
