I have a BBK cold air intake, BBK X-pipe and shorty headers and I am getting a tuner this week, what should I do after the tuner that would be the most bang for my buck???

sell that damn BBK intake and get a JLT Ram air intake, your actually prob losing hp with that damn BBK, its chrome, it heats up hotter than the stock one so its useless. But gears would be a great investment.

biggest bang for the buck comes from gears. 3.73, 4.10, 4.30...their all good!

well if you don't know what you are doing and you don't have the pinion depth gauge you shouldn't do them yourself. You need to take it somewhere to get the installed.

Which usually costs at least twice what you pay for the gears.

Not many folks do gears for themselves, usually the hardcore mechanics with a nice garage and all the tools you could ever need.

I paid 189.00 for my FRPP 4:10's but install was $700 total, which included the post 500 mile fluid inspection/change.

Great mod though.

If you had the tools and you had something else to drive, I would say go for it. But there are quite a few different pricey tools you need own to measure preloads, depth, runout, backlash. So instead of buying the tools just take it to a reputable shop or a reputable mechanic around your area.

I paid $200 to have my rear end rebuilt and have a trac lok and 4.10s installed and shimmed 3x until there was no whine

gears are not as scary as people think, put mine in with the help of a couple friends one of which had done many gears before. all you really need is the gear, the rebuilt kit from summit and some friction modifier that you can pick up from any ford dealer ship. in the end you end up spending $700 bucks paying some one to do it (from which you learn nothing) or you do it your self and in the end you gain some knowedge and the right to say that you truely built your car your self. just my .02

Gears are definitely the best bang for the buck. I only paid $180 to have them installed and they dont whine at all, so shop around for install prices. I had 4.10's installed and if you are like me, you are skeptical that they might be too steep of a gear ratio. Let me just tell you that 4.10s are NOT TOO STEEP of a gear. I am glad that i didnt get 3.73s cause I love the 4.10s. Esp. if you are N/A

one more vote for gears if you are already going to have the tuner.

yeah but I live in Orlando and drive to Pensacola, Ft. Meyers and sometimes Alabama atleast once or twice a year. 4.10 might be too steep right
