Anyone have an Ford Racing AL Driveshaft?
Is it worth it?
I remember looking into these a few years back and if I remember correctly people said it was a nice mod. But back then the price was either 250 or 279.00. They are now 320.00! Kinda a big price increase... So do you think the increase in performance out weighs the price? I know this isn 't a huge increase in performance but The reason I'm thinking about going this route is because my U joints are bad and I figure while I'm in there maybe I should throw in the Ford Racing driveshaft instead of just replacing the U joints. If I go this route Ill take advantage of CJponyparts friday discount so that should get the price down to 290.00. hopefully they still offer that discount.

Yes I have one on my 6. I noticed a quicker throttle response right away when I did mine its lighter rotating mass over the stocker.
![]() Ya go for it. Especially if you know ur u-joints are bad and you can get a discount on one.

I have one and felt no difference and saw no difference at the track. Although it lightens up the car and should be easier on the drivetrain it's not a good cost per gain mod. Do it after you have every other bolt-on IMO.

Pick one up used, I got mine for 75$ off CL. Less vibration in the shifter is what I felt. Not much more.

You only lose about 10 pounds of weight, but every bit counts I guess. I have one cause I got one super cheap on ebay brand new. I'd highly recommend other mods first.

I bought an OEM 03-04 Cobra aluminum driveshaft with my T56 swap, and I honestly don't know if there was any improvement, lol.
Busted my 5 speed back in like December 2010/January 2011, rode around not getting on it any with 2nd gear gone, then had the T56 and aluminum driveshaft swapped into it in March. No videos of before, but the cars pulls really well for a GT with just exhaust, CAI, gears, Bama email tune. One thing I did notice is a ton less vibration both in the shifter, and the ride. The ride got quieter. Before at 65-70, my dash would start to squeek a little, vibrate some. Now I can cruise at 80-85 if I want quietly. I get 27-28 MPG on the occasional long trips. Probably a combination of going from .67 5th to .63 6th and the aluminum driveshaft combined though. I'd say it's a relatively worthwhile mod, but not something you should run out and buy right away, and expect hugely noticeable gains from. It'll save you like ~10 pounds and make the car ride quieter at higher cruising speeds, which is pretty good IMO.

I've got one only because I picked it up used locally for $100. Good way to drop 10 lbs as someone else already said but it's kind of a "total package" thing you know....... not really a difference by itself.

Once you've done the basic mods like I/H/E, gears etc.
from then on, they are all very little gains. You wont feel every little one, but, at the end of the day, they all add up to either more hp, or weight savings. If you the cash, then go for it.

I bought one when I was doing the rearend. I didn't really notice a difference, but it was a super nice piece and is a huge weight savings. It's really easy to install, and it certainly helps more than other mods out there. I would get one if you are itching to do it.

Ive been running one for years. Its pretty much one of those mods you buy when you run out of other stuff. It definatly drops some weight and is easier to work with...plus it looks pretty under there lol. Imo its a decent mod and takes away some stress off the drivetrain. Plus it comes with beefed up u joints.

I've been quoted $379 for a smaller diameter, thicker wall aluminum custom made. It also includes large serviceable u joints. I can't remember what they called them.
I think I'm going that route myself.
