Need Catalytic convertor help or advice
My check engine light came on in my 2000 GT. Took it to the shop and they said it is the right side Cat that has gone bad. Factory replacement is 3 grand. I'm selling the car in a few months as it is, so I don't wanna drop 3 grand into it. Are the Cats welded to the stock headers? If not I know that would make things easier. What are the suggestions to fix this and the cheapiest way? Do the Mil eliminators run right into the Cats? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Get and O/R H for a few hundred bucks and you're done

get high flow cats which are way cheaper, or you could get an o/r pipe but your check engine light might stay on

Would the mil eliminators get rid of the check engine light problem?

Or just find someone that is selling the stock midpipe. Some of my old friends went the MIL eliminator route and they didnt work very well. Check engine would still come on.

everyone on am said they work really good and if your check engine light is on when you install these, disconnect the battery which will reset the code.
I think this should be good enough

$3000?!? Someone is trying to screw you, my friend. You can buy a used factory mid-pipe usually for around $100. A brand new aftermarket catted mid-pipe can be had for around $400. They can be installed in a couple of hours even if you've never done it before.
Never go back to that shop.

I called Ford to double check and they sell the part for 3100.00. So I guess he was telling the truth. I trust the mechanic I have known him for 15 years and he does work that I can't do for dirt cheap. He installed all 4 of my new shocks for 80 bucks which was a steal. Everyone else wanted at least 250 for the same job. Now back to topic BBK or SLP? They are only 20 bucks apart in price from AM.

Actually $3000 is lower than the factory price for a factory midpipe

Yea a used aftermarket midpipe with cats would be the best bet. used or new would be ALOT cheaper than the factory mid.

You'll be happy with the SLP. I have their x-pipe and fitment was good. I also used their high-flow cats for almost a year without throwing any codes.
