and sorry i was looking at the specs on the tranny and just noticed the gear ratios in them.(T56).

That's the benefit, not a drawback. On the 3650 you go from 1:1 in fourth to .62 in fifth. It's a huge leap and it's why the Cobra tranny is so much better. 1:1 is still fourth gear, but fifth gear is .8-something and makes a great intermediate gear (which the 3650 sorely needs) to make the transition from 1 to 1 to such a steep overdrive gear.
