I found a set of 4 valve heads and a Blower

OK, I've decided to go with some 4 valve heads, but I want to get some opinions on pricing first.
What I'm looking at is a 2003 Cobra with 44,000 miles. The asking price is 25.400, but I feel confident we can get to 23,000. It's a pretty sharp car. It doesn't appear to be modded at all, but I know someone has been dogging it because the flywheel was blued to hell and back- I actually got to see the car on the rack with the tranny out a few hours ago. It was nice to see those 8 bolts in the flywheel. The car is very straight inside and out. What is everyone's thoughts on the 03 Cobra- will it stand up to the competition for a while or are they becoming outdated?

Yes it will stand up to the competition really nicely...

I say go for it...I would offer him $22K though...See if he bites on that...

Or shop around some more and find a better deal on an 04 if you want...

I've looked at a few of them, and mid 20's seem to be to be the going prices. I would really like to have the car- it would be a much better base than I have now. Joe Beegle tells me that the Cobra stock block will handle well in excess of 600 HP. That would be fun to play with.
Does anyone know about how much a 26 spline input shaft for a T56 runs?

I wouldn't do it with the money you'd lose selling yours and buying the cobra with you could build a better car with the GT.

I ahve seen the stock cobra clock hold In excess of 700rwhp...It is a much better starting point...

Me personally the way my car sits I would get rid of it for a 03/04 Cobra without thinking...

You know, I had that same thought so I wrote it all out. Just to get my shortblock where it needs to be and get a good 6-speed, I will already be into the 8K range- factor in a good supercharger and all the supporting features, and I should be around 16-17K all total. I still owe about 10K on my GT, so we're looking at around 30K to get somewhere. If I get the Cobra, I'm lookin at about 6K for an awesome twin screw and probably 2K or so for the tranny and rearend upgrades. I figure about 32-33K if I go with the Cobra. I figure my GT could end up around 600 HP and the Cobra could be 750+HP.

Heh, what exactly do you want 750+ hp for anyways? Is this going to be a track only car? I think if you manage your deals right you could come out less in the GT, they already have solid rearend so you just need to beef that up a little yeah the transmission I wouldn't mind having and you could always make it a v4 and get a forged block and be able to hold more hp than the cobra's block. I personally wouldn't do it... you paid less to begin with and you'd end up losing a lot because your car is pretty modified as it is

I can see your point- The only thing holding me up is all the work I've put into the car, but I'm stating to get bored with the GT right now- extracting power out of the 2v is expensive............

BTW: Where is Edgewater?

Like 15 mins south of Daytona heh yea I drool over the cobra's sometimes too but HP out of everything is expensive once you get to a certain point lol... I wouldn't lose all the money for the parts that I put into the car and the car has less value because of all the extra money you put into it, that's why you should've thought long and hard before modifying your car to make sure you really wanted it for a long time.

Once you pop a good supercharger on your car you'll be happy with your GT! Did you take your car to the track yet?

A stock cobra? and end up paying more while you already put thousands into your car? why? Isn't your car already a 4v?

Well is it was a straight out trade I'd do it, but to end up paying thousands more and losing thousands just to get a 4v engine when there's way's to convert yours to a 4v cheaper just doesn't seem logical to me... there's cobra transmissions selling everywhere too cheaper I just wouldn't do it... if I'm missing something please inform me

Yep its just a 2V right now...And stock heads/cams as well...

If the right cobra came by and was the right price I would be all over it; like stink on $hit...

With all the money i ahve put in my car it still not wroth as much as a stock cobra...Even on the modified market...The 03/04 Cobra in all its glory did destroy the resale of modded Gt's and such...Its the truth and it sucks...

I ahve over $12K in my car not counting what I paid for it as it sits...And it still is not done...Hell I am just now at the stock 03/04 Cobra power levels...

Are you into modifying cars and selling them if not then why's the value of your car matter? I plan on keeping my car for a long time I don't care about it's value it's a car not an investment. Sure the value of a cobra is better than a modified GT but selling a GT and then buying a Cobra is only wasting money, I don't intend on selling my car it's a hobby that I plan on building for a long time. Sure Cobras are bad ass stock but you can always make the GT you have faster for cheaper.

I'm probably going to get it. My wife is pushing me to get it. I think she's sick of me talking about them all the time. It was kind of funny- We looked at a Mach1 after seeing the Cobra, and I was telling her that we could get it for about 5-6K cheaper than the Cobra and it had a 4v motor too. She replied that I should get a Cobra or keep what I have, because she didn't want to hear it later that I wish I had gotten a Terminator.
