will this setup be worth it?

hey guys i drive a 2000 gt manual...it has about 140k on it..i was recently thinking about getting a cam and ran into a deal...i know someone selling COMP CAMS XE278AH. when i did some reading it became evident that i would have to cut into the pistons to create valve clearance...my question is are these cams worth it? i read up they create the most power and thats my goal for the car to create the most power possible and i was also thinking of getting the heads ported. another question was do these cams work well with nitrous...running a 100 shot right now and have 4.10 gears. and are there other cams out there which make alot of power but i dont have to touch the internals?
mods:
mgw shifter
4.10 gears
aluminum block
zex 100 shot
jlt cai
cutout exhaust

You're on the edge of having to touch your internals right now. The cams will definitely make more power for you, but I wouldn't think of putting more than a 100 shot on the stock internals regardless, especially with 140k on the engine. Nitrous comes on a hell of a lot more aggressive than boost so you could be looking at failure if you go to anything more than a 100. That being said, I think a 100 is good enough and can be run safely.

With those cams you will need to relieve your pistons so you don't have PTV issues though, and porting your heads will absolutely pick up some extra power. Don't forget though, you will need a retune after doing all this work.

If i was in your spot and wanting cams on top of your spray, I'd do EXACTLY what JayC has done to his car. His cams didnt require nothching the pistons and his shit is quick. Mid 11's I believe on his stock bottom end. Im sure he will be in here.

I think the ported heads would be a great idea. That will allow your setup to make power more efficiently too. Plenty peeps running a cam/100 shot. I think its JayC with cams and a 150 shot. I "think". But a good tune will definitely be a must!

Exactly. I have two friends running completely stock internals, just full bolt ons and gears, stock cams, and both are spraying a 100 shot. Both of those cars are really quick. Tone down the aftermarket cams to save you from having to remove the heads and tear the motor apart to notch the pistons. Put your money into suspension to help you launch better.

what cams does jayC have? i basically want the most powerful cams out there that wont require touching the pistons but on the other hand im getting these cams for about 300...they are used and have 2000 miles on them...would it be worth it to get the cams and get the work done on the pistons or just get different cams?
and as far as suspension goes i have sub frame connectors and lowered springs...what else do i need? im not very literate at all when it comes to suspension...
i also have a 7qt oil pan..when i bought the car the guy before had a procharger on it...he said it had forged internals...with cam do you guys think i can run a 150 shot?

So your short block has forged internals? If thats the case, then I would run a 200 shot. And I still wouldnt pull the pistons back out. That would basically be rebuilding your motor.

If you have forged internals you should be good for a 200 shot. However, if you don't have forged internals you'll find that out real fast after hitting it with 200.

For suspension, I would get some upper and lower rear control arms. That alone will drop your 60 foot time and help you hook up a lot better. And the stock oil pan is 7 quart capacity.

Pretty sure stock is 6.

If he has forced low compression piston, Id ditch the nitrous and get a blower.

The "biggest" cam isn't necessary the best cam. Heads, cams, intakes all work together to make power. If they're not setup to work together correctly, you will be slower. If your intake flows up to 6000 rpm and your cam range runs up to 7000 rpm, the intake is limiting the cams ability to make power efficiently on the top end, when you could be making more power down low with a milder cam.

The peak number isn't the only factor that comes into play when making a car fast:
