Question Regarding Shortblocks for 99-00 Gt's
I understand that 99-00 GT's use a 8 bolt crankshaft / flywheel and clutch for the t-45 tranny so to my undersanding you cannot use a 01-04 engine because it will not bolt up without using a 3650 tranny clutch and flywheel is this correct? Shopping for shortblock and this dilema just popped into my head. also I understand that 03-04 cobras use a 8 bolt crankshaft/flywheel is it possible for that shortblock to bolt into a GT? I figure thats a heck no since they are designed for 4v heads.

yeah to my knowledge it was a 6 bolt crankshaft/flywheel for 96-98 and mid 01-04 the 99-early 01 use 8 bolt crankshaft/flywheel which got me thinking cause most places ive looked that sale built shortblocks only advertise ones with a 6 bolt crankshaft which got me thinking that It may require me getting a new tranny to get a built block
or maybe all I need is a 6 bolt flywheel and clutch to make it work? I dont know I may be over reacting Im sure they gotta make built shortblocks that will bolt into the 99-early 01s but it just kinda freaked me out. Im not a real know it all when it comes to engines but im an expert at changing oil, air filter and spark plugs just from what im reading it looks as if those engines will not bolt up to my combo.

You can buy a flywheel that will make everything compatible- you shouldn't have any concerns. Call Spec in AL if you won't to make for sure.

Thats what I figured but another concern of mine would be the heads Im gonna need to get 02-04 heads correct or would both the romero and windsor bolt to a windsor block?

both romeo and windsor heads will bolt up, the only difference is the valve covers, and yes all you would have to do is change your flywheel and your clutch and tranny will bolt right to it.
