A non intercooled kb is the biggest POS that should have NEVER BEEN MADE. Running a TS with no intercooler is nothing short of insane.

^ I second that running a top mount blower wo a intercooler isn't a very good idea

either a non ic vortech for like 3grand or the intercooled kd for almost 5grand. there are plenty of cats on here running the vortech and would advise you to go ahead and run that vortech and dont look back. hell even a v1 s trim $3014 mhs or cms stage 1 blowe cams $595 cx racing intercooler $200 =$3809 is even cheaper than a non ic kb blower and over $1000 cheaper than th intercooled kb with all of that along with the vortech.

If u wanna keep on a good buget and only want 400ish hp then vortech is way to go then u can throw a cheap cx intercooler on it and bov and it will sound nasty as hell but unless u got 1000's to spend on a INTERCOOLED KB then I would stick with that

OP, you could always buy my V1 setup for 2K!
![]() Includes: V1 S-trim head unit 2000-2004 bracket All bracket bolts 3.6" pulley Idler pulley Belts Oil feed line Oil return line 39LB OEM 03-04 Cobra EV6 injectors EV6 injector to EV1 harness adapters Intake assembly Discharge pipe Vacuum line and T fitting for boost gauge Vortech bypass valve 90MM MAF All clamps and couplers SCT 4 Bank chip Original Vortech chip Full set of original Vortech instructions Just needs a filter, missing one little fitting for the oil lines, and one of the big bracket bolts might be missing. I think it probably just fell out of the container it was in when I picked up the box and got it in the Mustang to get a shipping quote. Could also include an SVT Focus fuel pump for a little extra.

I'd love to except I just dropped $1,300 on tuition. Let me recoup and fix the little problems (bad clutch and exhaust) and hopefully by next fall I'll have the dough. Right now I'm just making a list and checking it twice.
I know, that ^ was dumb.

I would go vortech personally. Unless your buying the fully loaded KB kit then its not worth it. I personally dont believe the 2.1 KB is a 6k dollar blower. I've driven several cars that are KB and the instant torque is fun but an SI head unit has so much more potential and you can do so much more with so much less. The CX racing intercoolers are good but for just a little more money you can buy a treadstone and have a very nice intercooler with like only 1lbs of boost drop. I'm also switching to air to air and I have probably the highest efficiency intercooler setup money can buy right now. I'm only changing because I'm going to be running 16+lbs of boost and I cant get a big enough BOV on my aftercooler without chopping it up big time and I would rather just sell it and move on. If you buy a vortech kit just hold on for a bit because my aftercooler kit with the killer chiller will be for sale for a good price.
Check out the treadstone TRV25 intercooler. They really are a great intercooler

I bought my V2 setup from Black Bullitt on this form for $2400, and went from there. I tapped my own oil pan and it wasn't too difficult. The kit came with an aftercooler, but an intercooler will work just as well. At 10psi either will work fine. Personally I'm partial to the aftercooler because I have a 5 gallon trunk mounted tank that I pack with ice for autocross runs, drag passes, and dyno runs, but I also have a heat exchanger to keep the water cool during day to day driving. Just make a list of parts you need, injectors, fuel pump, so on, and keep an eye out for them in the classifieds. Buy everything piece meal, and install it when you're ready.

Hey NitMare, I'll take that Chiller off your hands for the right price.
