Removing Pillars

Im going to be vinyling my roof black very soon, and the job would be much easier if i removed the pillars above the windows before installation.
How do you go about this?
I think they just pop off, but I cant find exact details on the process, so just wanted to run it by you guys.
Thanks

they will be snapped on. So just gently pry evenly and it'll remove.

So you're doing the headliner in vinyl?

I just re-did my headliner. It's not a fun or easy process. I even did the sun visors. Out headliners are glued to the roof of the car. You need to be really careful removing it. Try not to rip the back of the board or put any creases in it.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you mean the ones that run along the windshield, I have been told that one has a piece that is overlaped by the sail panel. There is a screw that holds it in near the front fender (easy to see). I did find this as well...Exterior Door Pillar Trim Removal - MustangForums.com

Also, this was pulled from a post on Stangnet...

Actually the Trim peice is held on by clips and bolts. Here are the steps from the Service manual.

1. Remove the weatherstrip.

2. Remove the exterior roof side moulding screws.

3. Remove the interior roof side moulding screws.

4. Remove the roof side moulding nut.

5. Release the clips.

1 Lift up to release the two clips.

2 Note:
Grasp the roof side moulding and lift up to release the money clip.

Remove the money clip.

6. Remove the upper quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to «Section 501-05».

7. Remove the nuts and the roof side Quarter moulding.

If you want to take the sail panels off then I know there are a bunch of nuts that hold it in and those can be accessed by taking the interior panel off and you can then see them.

i understand the sails are a bitch to remove, and its not worth the time or effort to take them off just to vinyl the roof of my car, but if its simple enough, im talking about removing this part of the pillar.
