A pulley puller would be needed for the harmonic balancer, and you can find one at just about any auto parts store.

I was able to wiggle my old harmonic balancer off without a puller when I tore down my old engine. Scary huh?

Thats a good question. I would guess left side of the car, so driver side.

You can go to an Autozone and rent the harmonic balancer puller and install tools. When you return the tools they will credit your card for 100% of the rental so you are renting them for free.

You will need 2 different tool kits, 1 kit is the puller, the other is the installation tool.

A little bit of advice for you, get a piece of cardboard and cut it in the shape of your timing cover. As you remove the bolts from the cover, take a phillips screwdriver and push a hole in the cardboard and push the bolt into the cardboard in the position they came out of the timing cover. The bolts are different sizes and lengths, and if you do this you won't be confused on where each bolt goes when reassembling. It also helps to keep from losing a bolt or washer. Other bolts I remove I place in a sandwich baggy and label the bag so it makes reassembly a piece of cake. Have a small box handy to throw all the sandwich bags in to keep from losing stuff.

The head changing kit you have listed does not have the intake manifold gaskets. There are other kits available that has the intake manifold gaskets and other gaskets included.

Since you are removing the timing cover I would go ahead and buy those gaskets as well. Would suck to get it all back together and have the crankshaft seal start leaking because you would have to remove the timing cover to replace the seal.

Better to do things right once, then to have to do it over again.

Want to trade balancers with me? I have the opposite problem. I marred some threads taking it off, and snapped off a bolt putting it in.

Though using your balancer would make it kind of tough for me to use my supercharger pulley.

You'll know real quick when you get the timing cover off. If you have the iron tensioners they have "L" and "R" cast into them.

You'll want to have a welder's paint marker handy. When I did my cams I labeled each component "L" and "R" as well as marked my timing gears/chains. The paint markers are like $3, I got mine at Rural King in the welding section. It's also handy for marking which bolts you have already torqued, just like the pros.
