Please help!!!
I bought this mustang. I got it for 4000 + 1000 fiancing. Only had car two weeks still have temp tag. I had to replace the mufflers and both cats and resonators. 600 dollar fix. Now it just came to my attention that it has a crack in the driver side header. Also the car is running rich. The passenger side control arm is bent. Plus the brakes are shot and front rotors are bad. Clutch is already shows signs of replacement coming soon.I need two new tie rods. Should i keep car or count as a loss and take car back and shove it up their ass? I have been making payment while it sits in shop or my front yard. Please help!!!! my wife is killing me. so, far i spent 1000 down and three weeks worth of payments as of tomorrow and 600 on exhaust and 175 on limo tint. so total is 2000

Sounds more like you should have done some more looking though... Not unheard of to put some money into a new to you used car, but sounds like this one was abused. |

didn't you drive it and check it out before purchase? sounds like you made a bad deal. If you have any way to get out of it I'd do that. Not that the things you mentioned are real expensive if you could do them yourself, but if you're paying to have it done, plus if it's an indicator of things to come I'd get rid of it and look for something better.

your not at a total loss here, get your hands dirty and it can be fixed for cheap. if the car has stock manifolds im sure you can pick up a repalacement used one from someone on this site who swapped out for long tubes. a used A arm can be picked up at a junk yard for cheap. tie rod ends are less than 100 new for a set and all those parts are easy diy replacement. as for the clutch that is the most expensive part but if your happy with keeping the car stock you can get a budget clutch kit for 150-200 dollars off american muscle.

yea, I knew about control arm when I bough it. I was just listing all the issues. I'm nervous about taking header off. The nuts like rusted and worried they will break. The shop down the road said 750 for them to take my header off and redrill. I even took the car to three shops. No check engine light and no codes. The car past inspection. Yesterday, when i got the exhaust replaced, the mech who fixed it ran a test on my cats and said nothing was wrong with the exhaust. He had to cut the cat off to see that they were empty. The cats failed a week later while i was driving it. I had alot of people look at this before i bought it. They wont give me my money back.

just start picking your parts off craigslist or unfortunately use this time to start making your upgrades so your not buying double the parts. header bolts always tend to look rusty and like there going to be a pain. get your replacement headers , think you can find used shorties or long tubes on craigslist or forums for around 250-400 depending on lt or shorties.
spray you some pb blaster, wd40, or liquid wrench of some type and get you a long handled ratchet and apply even pressure on the bolts, dont use power tools, or jerky movements if your nervous bout snapping the header bolt. they look scary but once you do it youll feel like a pro. the thing with doing headers or header bolts on these cars is there going to be time consuming due to cramped engine space, but again if you have patience and free time (id set aside 6-8 hrs up to a day) and do it. youll feel accomplished in the end and who knows might make your wife frisky when you go into the house all greasy and dirty... know it does my girlfriend |

I feel your pain. Within ten minutes of owning my 2000 gt. it spit a plug out. 50.00 fix next morning. Once I got it running 5 minutes later needed clutch. Spent 107.00 on a clutch next week. Now I need tie rods, ball joints, heater core, ac, body work headers.
You should have checked the car out better before buying it. Luckily I did a straight trade and mines paid for so to speak. I would keep the car and just fix issues as the come up. Even if you bought a brand new car or newer car. Parts break and have to fix them. Just how it goes.
