O/R X with a decently muffled muffler?
Got a bad rattle in my pass rear cat - so thinking it might be a good time to upgrade.
I've grown to like the rumble of my 'bullitt' mufflers (some chambered designed, they say 'bullitt' on them) - I'd say closer to a flowmaster 50 series. Anyone got a vid/sound clip for me? I'd like to keep it somewhat quiet, but have that o/r growl. Looked around but couldn't find anything good.

Well, looks like I'll have to go buy an X pipe (just did a few minutes ago) and have it installed (happening in about 1 hr) ,,,and I'll make my own dang decently muffled mufflered X pipe vid!

I've got some flowmasters and i'm looking for a new midpipe. Thinking i'll go with an o/r X so i'm interested in how your setup turns out.

Will do. Grabbed a UPR X pipe, hope they gave me the right one (not the '04 model), but should have it on this afternoon.
not sure the mufflers, they say 'bullitt' on them,,,definitely chambered, but closest to a flow 50 series I figure.

H pipe and chambers have always sounded good on these cars, same with x pipe and open mufflers to me.
I haven't seen a combination of these sound good to my ears yet once they are outside of idle. |

Well, they're having to put in flow-tubes since my stock H was welded to the muffler pipes.
If after 1200 miles of pure hwy I can't stand it, it will be super easy for me to swap in an o/r H ![]() I just couldn't take that rattle any more, sounded really bad when taking off in 1st gear. Hard to look cool with a rattle. Very spur of the moment - I woke up this morning, and decided to do it!

All done. Verdict = SEX
Love it, i've gone cat-less before on other vehichles, but the change in sound is incredible. Sounds damn mean! Quiet till u get on it. ....feels like she pulls stronger through upper rpms too. Doesn't drone, but has a hint of 'wet fart' as she wraps out. The good kinda wet fart that doesn't require fresh trousers. I can definitely see it getting obnoxious with any louder muffler, but sounds just right with mine. I'll post a sound clip in a few days when i get time.

Glad it turned out well, I just bolted up my O/R X and snapped off a manifold bolt in the process. It was a wonderful afternoon! 45 minute job turned into a 4 hour job, oh well, no pain, ,no gain I guess.

I paid a shop $85 to avoid that headache personally,,,plus it was all welded together.
Did learn that the rest of my catback was all stainless though (dude said he burned up a blade or two cutting the welds out). ...and and and my exhaust sits up quite a bit higher in the middle now. Happy camper am I.
