Thinking About The Next Small Mod

Firewall Adjusters & Quadrants : Lethal Performance, Performance parts for Ford Mustangs My clutch pedal has no signs of going bad except for the fact that it lets out higher sometimes and lower other times, and I think I can point the finger at Ford's Self Adjusting Clutch. For example, I launch pretty hard on it, with no slippage, and I tried putting it in 5th and slamming the gas and the RPM's rose as they should without skipping a beat; that's why I doubt the clutch is going...I just want better driveability. So now the question is...All these brands on the Lethal website, which ones are the best, and why? What's install like? And What do you guys think of UPR's clutch pedal adjuster on top of the firewall and quadrant?

I've never run a pedal adjuster so I'm not qualified to answer that question I suppose. However, I always recommend an aluminum quadrant and firewall adjuster......... great upgrade that you won't ever have to worry about breaking, which is more than I can say about the stock plastic two piece quadrant. All brands are pretty much equal, I've run several different brands and installed many more than I've used personally. I would suggest watching ebay as used quadrants and firewall adjusters sell all the time for a dime on the dollar.

I have a Steeda Double hook quadrant and adjustable clutch cable in my 99 GT. Its a very simple install, you dont need anything but some basic tools. The aftermarket quadrant and cable made all the difference in the world for clutch feel, and engagement. I would stay clear of a firewall adjuster though, they are nothing but a headache. Just get the quadrant and adjustable cable.

The firewall adjuster is not a headache at all and allows for fine tuning of the clutch pedal engagment point. I wouldn't install a quadrant without a firewall adjuster.

I've read that the adjustable clutches are typically a lot worse than the stock cable, and that's why it's a lot more common to have a firewall adjuster. Alright yeah they looked very similar, and thanks for the ebay suggestion! Last question; What exactly is the difference between a quick release and a triple or double hook quadrant, just more adjustability?

+1 it's a waste of time to have to climb under the car to adjust your clutch. If your having an issue wit the firewall adjuster, maybe your not doing it right. Just my .02

I used the just the double hook quadrant and the adjustable cable. All I did was hook the cable onto the farthest hook from the firewall, and then go under the car and put a little pressure on the clutch fork, and tighten the cable. I engages where it always has. I like the setup IMO. Pedal feel is amazing. I have a Spec Stage 2 clutch. With the stock cable and quadrant it was very stiff. With the Aftermarket quadrant and cable, it feels like a stock clutch.

That's my point. If you want adjustability you need a firewall adjuster. It's not a necessity, but it allows for fine tuning and changing of the pedal position for clutch adjustment. For example mine engages/disengages at the very top of the pedal travel. I drag race only and want the engagement/disengagement point at the top of the travel so I barely have to depress the pedal for complete disengagement. Just saying it's nice to have for the fine tuning ability.

So basically there's not much point in a double or triple hook vs a normal single hook quadrant as far as adjustability; All that really matters is that it's not the stock plastic quadrant, and that I'll be using the firewall adjuster...Right?
