Random noise/SCT question

So ive got 2 noises i can not diagnose for the life of me. Car runs awesome with no issues, these just bother me. 04 GT 5spd

1. When turning (more so to the right) i get a whineing in the rear. Very slight, but enough to annoy me. Only hear it in parking lots (slow speeds). it sounds like a powersteering whine but from rear. Idk if this matters also, but when getting onto a hard on-ramp going left its smooth, going right it seems rough. If that makes any sense..

2. What i think is an exhaust leak, however it only does it when engine is underload. I can rev it all day with no noise. Say im doing 40mph and in 5th gear and punch it, i hear the noise. It sounds like a diesel mac truck downshifting. Also makes the noise full throttle in anygear past 3k-ish.

..Thats all, ive fixed every other little thing that bothers me except these 2 things. Cant figure them out at all.

---------------

SCT X3 Question

Im running the race tune and love it. However when switching to the race tune from performacne, i hit advanced options to see what was in there(the one they say to skip), now it asks everytime for it. Does this mess up the tune? I wanted to see how to delete the rear o2's since im removing my cats, and how to put in the 2step option. Didnt find either. Also dont know how to use the datalog option either. I cant believe this didnt come with some type of manual..

1. Sounds like a wheel bearing.

2. Could be an exhaust leak, but that description sounds more like detonation.

I'm sure you're running 93 octane fuel, right? It sounds like detonation (spark knock) to me You can mess with the timing in the options - knock it back -4 from what it is set at and see what happens, and also check/replace your spark plugs.

yes always 93, in everything i own regardless. im going to put it back to stock and see if its still there. If so, should i just send bama/AM an email for a new tune? How can i see exactly what they did/used for a tune anyhow?

Without the actual tune file and your own copy of Advantage (part of the PRP), you can't see exactly what they did in the tune. What plugs/tstat are you running? Try either returning to the stock tune or dialing back the advance a bit and see if it goes away.

Went to stock tune and still does it, and I THINK not as loud tho. It's most aggressive/loud if I'm doing 20-25mph put it in 5th and punch it. Sounds like a diesel truck.

Tstat an plugs stock, never touched them since I've owned it.

How can I adjust timing just to see? And will it screw up my tune? When I go in advanced options before it loads tune, all the presets in there are checked at "0" degrees.

I'm going to put stock tune back in now again and try it at 20-25 like I just did with race tune.

Why are you trying to go WOT in 5th at 20-25 MPH in the first place?

Was the tune written with the assumption that you would have swapped to a 180 degree tstat and one heat range colder plugs? Most canned "performance" tunes are.

You can back off the timing in the "advanced options" that you're seeing before loading the tune. You should be able to either take out the timing in seperate rpm ranges or globally. Just back it off two degrees and see if it improves.

I hear the noise when normally driving, I tried seeing when it's the worst. Was for testing purposes only. So it makes the noise on race tune, swapped back to stock and it makes it very slightly/if at all. So it's definitely the tune.

Never told them I had different plugs or tstat.

Soo I can just go into global spark and check -4 and that takes 4 degree timing OFF whatever they set it at?

You might ask them what their assumptions are for their "race" tune.

Yes, -4 in global spark will retard ignition timing by 4 degrees across the board.
