Help! Did I tear up my car

It has been raining heavily and I drove through a huge puddle and my car acted funny so i laid down heavily on the gas in neutral in hopes to blow it out of the exhaust. My car rpm guage was going crazy and it was trying to die. I pulled into a parking lot and then I realized that my air intake is in the fender well. I reached down and the cone part diddn't feel wet but the metal part at the end of the cone was soaked. I left it at the parking lot. What should I do next?

Just like when you get your phone or ipod wet.. you should of shut it off immediately and let it dry or drain out.. I think by flooring your car you only encouraged the engine to suck in the water and possibly damage things!

I could be wrong, no, I'm probably wrong. lol

Why would you assume your going to blow water out of your exhaust?? but i would let it sit for awhile, im sure someone on here knows more on what to do.

I DON"T KNOW...It was a spur of the moment thing.. it was bubbling like the exhaust was under water. I am seriously freaking out though. I'm probably going to change the oil and run a can of sea foam through it. Any suggestions at all please helpp.

If the engine is still running then you most likely didn't hydrolock it. Meaning bent rods and broken pistons. What you did might have worked with a carburated motor but not with ours. The computer determines how much fuel to put in by looking at the air going through the MAF.

I ran through a huge puddle once. Water was so deep it came in through the door panels. It got sucked up into the intake. The motor didn't hydrolock but it wouldn't rum for crap. The end result was that water had gone through the supercharger, through the intercooler and contaminated the MAF so that it couldn't function. All it took to fixt the problem was to clean the MAF. If I hadn't had that much piping before the motor I probably would have hydrolocked the motor and bent a rod.

Just wait for everything to dry a day or 2 and if it still is running bad then just change the oil or spark plugs

Like everyone else said let it dry, clean the MAF and don't free rev it after a big puddle or at any other time. Your just looking for problems doing that at any time. Good luck I hope your car is good.

Truth is I had no idea how deep the water was until I was in it and couldn't back out. I had driven down that road a thousand time, the water had never been that deep before.

I actually laughed at that. I just pictured water pouring out of his exhaust

Will the car start? If not, you could of hydrolocked it, which means you sucked in enough water, and locked the motor up and youll need a new motor. But Im like 95% sure insurance would cover that.

Or you could of broken, or soaked your MAF.

No damage at all but it really screwed up the MAF until it dryed. I was lucky. I don't have my intake in the fender well. If I did it would have sucked up a lot of water. After getting through the water I had no power at all. If I pushed down on the pedal the car died (all air no fuel). The ECU didn't know additional air was going into the motor so no additiona fuel was added. I really thought I had broke it until it dried out.

seafoam says that it helps with moisture. Anyone one think that would help?

No the last thing you want to do is pour seafoam in your intake and rev the piss out of it. All seafoam really does is remove the carbon buildup. But high rpm stuff in general reduces the chance of carbon buildup.

Need electrical cleaner, and Id take the filter off and clean it. Id also take off the pipe right at the throttle body and see how wet the inside of the intake is.

Yeah, electrical cleaner. Be careful not to touch it with your fingers, the sensor is as thin as a piece of hair. You can easily break it. Just spray it off, and let it dry for 20 minutes.
