Torn...2v cams or 4v heads...
Let me break it down for ya. I have a bolt on GT. I almost bought cams for it, but then discovered that I had a bad rod bearing.
Through excessive persuasion of parental units, rather than just fix my motor, I'm having a brand new short block custom built...yea I know right... Anyways, the shortblock consists of cast block/crank, forged rods and pistons, and about 11.1:1 CR with 2v heads to be brief. The original plan was to also add in some big cams. These would go in my stock heads. My guy also told me that he could hook me up with some 01 cobra heads for the same price as the cams...he got a good deal I guess. so its either 2v w/cams. or 4v w/ no cams. I can only afford to do one. Let me hear your opinions, suggestions, comments, whatever you want. I believe both will make about the same power. I would love the sound of cams, which is what I was originally after. 4v sounds cool too, but I dont see myself tapping into the potential power that they would give me, as I am a college student with little income. I'm leaning more towards the cammed 2v and having a sick nasty sounding car and calling it quits.. Let me know what you all think!

I see no reason for you to not keep it 2V.

I agree. Stick with the 2V. There's a lot more involved with going 4V than just slapping heads on. Your cost will go up real quick and you'll probably find yourself going way over budget.

Stay 2v on your budget. Look at the Lincoln Mark 8 conversion sticky if you want to scare yourself away from a 4v conversion. I've got a little money and some skills and I'm thinking twice about it.

true that. I've decided to stay 2v. This build will make it a fun car, plus I'll get the sound of cams. Nitrous down the road will be great with the compression I'm running

2V with a set of properly sized cams for your build. You're gonna hate it if you go to big...Do the piston have a valve relief cut into them?

4v heads on a 2v bottom reduces compression. its not gonna run how ya think. 2v's do fine from the factory. Plus you dnt have 2 worry about infamous head ticks with a 2v like u would a 4v.

I think he said they were 2cc probe pistons...thats all I remember. He'll size the cams and pistons properly I'm sure.

I said 4v....stock 4v heads will handle a lot of power stock compared to 2v. I like the 2v bc of the under dog status

Never said I was putting that motor in my car. I'm just saying that he knows what he's doing. I'm getting a built/cammed 2v...not a 1k+hp twin turbo 4v motor...lol

true that...I would go 4v if I was planning on going more hp. Most likely after this build that'll be it for this car. Both combos would make close to the same power, so I'd rather have it sound cool +have underdog status at the same time...its a win win...

Aaaaaand, if you're staying with a PI type head make sure you get your pistons notched.
