winter tire size?

I have original rims with 205 45 16s on them. I am planning to buy 2 winter tires for the back. can I buy 225 50 16 size? I have no shocks/struts/coils...

Gonna have a hard time putting miles on a new set of tires missing those parts... they are kinda important *stone face*

Those tires will fit fine on a 7" wheel, but are quite a bit larger than current, while a tad smaller than OEM diameter. If you have already addressed the speedo/ODO accuracy, you will have to do so again, for sure, for accurate mileage readings over Winter.

You could, but you're better off going narrower for a winter tire.

In the wet, traction issues are for a different reason than in the dry, and wider tires will hurt your grip.

the 225 50 16 is a bit taller than the 205 45 16, but you shouldn't have any problems fitting it on your car. Speedo will be off, but if if its just so you can driver around safer in winter then think about it a little longer before dismissing it.

I run 215/65/15 Hankook iPikes on every corner, with a sandbag in the trunk. Not a pickup but it still beats every noob girl driving around in their fwd car with all seasons.
