Rear Cobra Brakes

Im going to upgrade my rear brakes to cobra brakes, and what all parts do I need to complete the swap? I Know I'll need the mounting brackets, but where could I find them cheap?

cobra rear brakes are a waste of money, you can use your gt brackets just fine. the only diff between cobra rear brake calipers and gt calipers is the cobra calipers are wider to fit the thicker rotor.

wrong. the calipers are exactly the same, only difference is the mounting braket and rotors and PADS. it uses a thinner pad compared to a gt/ v6

the bracket is slightly diff, gt brackets dont have the front support (darn). as for the thinner pads, i did not know that. i just know gt rotors were alot thinner than the cobra ones so i swapped the rotors over to eat up the gap i was having with the brake pads.

Agreed

A Cobra rear upgrade is of little benefit, beyond appearance. There is some mechanical advantage, so they "are" better, but not noticeable by seat of the pants

My recommendation is to just leave the OEM GT rears with a set of good pads, SS lines and just go premium fluid.

There was more to the kits when I was looking at them a few years ago. They included dust shields and some other parts. Oh, and I agree they are a waste of money.

The Cobra Mounting Brackets are Different because they move the caliper out for the 11.65 inch rear rotor. And actually do waste the money because a stock GT rotor is solid not vented. The bigger cobra rotor is vented so they are thicker, which leads to yes a smaller pad. Because during an on track session my rear pads heat up and get way too hot and eat up axle seals. My rear brakes are white hot and smoking coming off track. Ive also gotta find a way for cooling ducts to get back there. My fronts are fine, I run ducts through the cobra fog light holes lol. and btw Im using Hawk blues. I just wanna now what all parts I need for the swap and Wheres the cheapest place to get them?

All I needed when I did mine were the cobra mounts for the caliper brackets, rotors and pads. The stock caliper bracket can be grinded down to fit the wider rotors. The vented rotors should definatly help things stay cooler, plus they fill out the wheel better.
