Clutch related issue on 99 cobra
Hello all. I am in need of some advice from you car bros. Ok so I have a 99 cobra and have had it for 2 years. It came with a stage 2 clutch and it had some pretty nice force on it. I threw out the rod bearing on Thursday and got a new clutch two days ago. They said they put it the stock cobra clutch, but something doesn't add up. First of all the only way they would provide warranty was if they supplied the part. So that was fishy. Anyway, now my car drives like sh**. Absolutely no force on the clutch, and it's lighter then both clutches I had on my V6 mustang. Is this right? There is absolutely no kick on the clutch. Also the thing that bothers me the most is that the friction point is way farther out, so it's a pain to drive. Is there a way to adjust this? Also, is there any hopes of me asking them for me to pay the difference for a stage 2? I doubt it because the labor alone is the majority of the cost. In the condition it is it feels like a V6 and there is no point in having a cobra.. Absolutely no power from the clutch, and it honestly feels like a 4 banger again. I'm really dissapointed I love the car and now it's basically ruined for me.

I'm a bit confused. Are you saying the stock clutch has a softer pedal and that you're equating that with making less power? You say the release point is now way farther out, is it possible it's not completely releasing and is slipping? Do you happen to have a brand and part number on the clutch they installed? If we know that, you may get some more solid suggestions.
It is possible to adjust the clutch release point with an adjustable cable and/or firewall adjuster. Go to American Muscle or Summit and search, there are seveal options. If it were me, I'd take the car back to the installer, explain what you're feeling, and ask them to check it out. It could just be a simple adjustment they need to make on something.
