Help me with my EGR delete
Trying to figure out how to do this and what all I need before I get off work for Christmas break so I can have the car re-tuned while im on break. I already have a block off plate and LT's waiting to go on but im not sure what all gets removed or anything really. Could someone post up links, pictures, or any kind of help so I know how to do it before I start on it, I don't know much about it or how to do it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks Baz.......

it's really easy. take that egr tube off and put the block off plate on the plenum. take the headers to lowes or home depot and ask them for a copper cap for the egr location. they'll look at you funny but all well lol, they wont have the true size, as they dont carry metric copper caps but find the one that starts, then take it home and you can work it on pretty easily, since it's copper it'll retap the threads on the cap easy.
then unplug the dpfe sensor(the sensor that has those two hoses on it that come from the egr tube), remove that, along with the other thing that's on that bracket. there will be one vacuum line you'll have to plug as well. then just tuck the dpfe connector somewhere and call it a day.

You can also save a trip to the store by cutting off the EGR tube and reusing the old nut that bolted the tube onto the exhaust. A penny will fit inside of it perfectly and it will not leak once you tighten the cap onto your new header pipe.

I still never really got the point in taking the EGR off. It improves gas mileage at low rpm and shuts during WOT correct? It weighs like 1lb. I'm all for simplifying the engine bay, but is there something else I'm missing or is this something to do to your car, just cause you want to work on your car?
Also, if you're already tuned does the egr fuck with your drivability without being retuned? More importantly on a boost application?

The EGR is there mainly for EPA emissions standards, what little it does is not very noticeable in gas mileage. The engine looks so much cleaner without it.

well, it also recirculates unburned and partially burned gas vapors that do improve gas mileage, help the air( pfft ), and low combustion chamber temps..but ya, its a bitch to reuse on after market headers so ta hell with it..the bennifg]its dont outweigh the work to get it up N' running.Plus it does look cleaner under the hood w/o the ufo looking thing attacking your plenum..
