Tech ? about Saleen 200 mph Gauge Cluster

I just got the 200 mph Saleen gauges .. and I have them installed all working and what not .. but how do you calibrate the speedo to read out right on that .. right now its reading like a regular gt 150mph speedo ... I thought they were gonna be right .. but oh well its really not a big deal .. but can a hand held tuner do it or what ?! .. Thanks in advance !

Everything works .. except the speed is way off .. 1500 rpms cruising in 3rd has me at 55 mph .. any way ... I know the dealer and set the ecu right but thats gonna cost .. if you can find a cheap way of setting it .. that would be great . btw .. did you have it wired straight into your headlight knob .. i just spliced it to the power source and grounded it to the frame .. I can't tell if its glowing or not b/c its so bright ...

thats cool .. It works fine ... it just had that wire from the gauges like it was indeglo or something so I wired it up and it works fine for me too .. just gotta get that gauge recaled .. Maybe b/c I had to swap the brain and the circut board it doesn't work .. it just wouldn't start up with the other circut board .. it would crank .. but never turn over and the theft light would glow .. does that sound right ?

Yeah that has to do with the PATS system...

If you dont use your own board then you have to have your PATS system reset for the new board...

When I put my Lunar Set-up in my car I just used my old board...But since you went to the 200MPH Saleen then you will need to get your computer set-up to work with the 200mph speedo...

Do you know someone that works for ford? Becuase that would help ya out alot...

I know it said in the directions that came with my lunar cluster said that replacing the board will mess with the PATS system...Thats why it would not start and such with the other circuit board...

Yeah .. the car wouldn't crank with the old board .. the lil brain thing that controls the odometer and engine readouts is fine .. its just the big baord with all the leds in that won't swap .. or it would be calibrated fine .. do you know which would be cheaper .. calibrate the new board or have the old one set for my car to work ?

i think it is possible to disable the PATS system by way of predator or SCT tuner.. contact your tuner and ask him about that he can probably get you a tune that will allow you to disable it for nothing

Even though im some "young punk kid" and im a "ford tech that probably is a lube tech"

Youre IC module needs to be recalibrated. If you want to do this you must have both youre old cluster and new cluster. Then bring it to the ford dealer and they can reprogram the IC to the new cluster and everyhing will be ok. You have a PATS system and you have a IC module. Thats why it just cranks and doesnt start.

All in all youre probably looking at 1hr at a dealership. SO what ever it costs for an hr. of diag.

Look casper .. I was just talking shit back and forth .. you know we both were .. like we all know .. its the internet .. unless we really know each other .. who knows what we really are .. but thanks for the info ...

But why do they need both clusters .. I put both my old circut board and odometer box thing ( wonderful tech. jargon .. I know ) into the new "gauge pod" .. so basically its like my old gauge .. just with new saleen faces .. can't they just take what I have now and calibrate the stuff for the 200 mph and the different rpms .. or they have to have both to do the calibration .. thats all I'm asking ... plus my gauges read kilometers .. can they change the odometer to read miles ?

the reason they need your old cluster is to see if you tried messing with your odometer(VERY illegal)

No thats not the reason they need the new ones. I already explained everything. Its because youre car has IC modules and PATS systems. You need to bring it to ford dealership with both. I recommend keeping the old on in first. Then they can reprogram everything to where you need it.

^ thought that if you wanted to switch out your cluster you had the bring the new one to ford because they didn't want you messing with the odometer.

I stand corrected.

The reason he is having the problems he is is because of what i said. Thats why you need to have a dealership do it.

Look at older cars...you can swap them out without going to a dealer.

In some states its illegal to touch your gauge cluster for that reason and you have to take it some where to be done! I dont know what states, but I read that somewhere in a magizine!

So Casper,

Should I put the circuit board that came with the Saleen gauges back in, or just leave it out I have it now, with the saleen gauges on my pod with my circuit board etc ....

It would be in youre best interest and would make things easier if you had the circuitry in the cluster it came in and then have it installed like that.
