Thats what I thought but I was reading an old motor trend article about the 2003 mach 1 and it said they had a cast block and aluminum heads . Thanks alot ! I'm in the market for a mach 1 and that got me wondering.

I heard it was an aluminum block also.

Read that the 2v is cast iron while the 4v is aluminum.

and just for clarification....

96-98 cobras = teskid aluminum block
99-01 cobras = wep (or wap) aluminum block
03-04 cobras = cast iron
http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...gt-vt3568.html

Since the 03-04 machs, and terms are both 4v...I think they used the same block.

IIRC the terms used a cast iron block due to added strength for FI. I know the Mach blocks are aluminum.

96-98 teskid blocks and yes they were designed by an italian race team.

The mach did have 3.55's yeah. solid rear suspension. Difference suspension package, stiffer springs and lower, tokico shocks, and cobra brakes and subframe connectors were added.

The engine is unique with a difference VIN code. Aluminum block, same heads as 03-04cobra and mauraders. The intake cams are different and used in the trucks, makiing better low end torque curve. The compression is much higher than a SVT motor as well. Redline is around 7 and fuel shutoff is at 7k.
From a post i posted a while back.

and

News Flash.... 03/04 Cobra has a Iron block...ealier cobras have an aluminum... difference is SN-95 ( 96-98 ) had a Teksid block compaired to the 99+ had a WAP ( windsor alum. plate ) block which is weaker than ealier blocks..although some 01's did recieve the older Teksid block.

Cobra R has a 5.4 Iron block as well, but not same as the 03/04 cobra block because like someone said the 03/04 have forged internals.
