If you get the MAF cleaner, you can use it to clean the IAC as well. I would just clean both. they probly both need it. So far as the EKG thing, if you get a code, at any time, the comp. stores it, and will display it anytime the CEL is on. Running or no. Usually idle issues dont throw codes. As far as the comp. is concerned it will either idle or it wont, lol.

I dont have a 5000 buck scan tool at home and went on what the SCT said about codes. But I guess the IAC is like running an EKG on a heart, it wont show unless its happening when ya run it, or unless its dead as fried chicken. I ment no bad blood, if I came off that way it was probably the Icehouse anf Moonshine mixture I put in my veins tonight. Anyway, im heading more towards the IAC the more I think on it.
if you take anything from this thread just know most idle issues are caused by a fault IAC that usually needs to come brand new from ford and not from a 3rd party like Autozone or Advanced

Most likely no, as long as it was installed correctly
You aint kidding, I just hope we can pull this country out of the muck and back to some sort of economic forerunner. But thats a whole other kettle of fish.

Thanks glittle, I think im just over thinkin this thing. I put an old IAC on it today that a buddy of mine had laying around and so far it hasnt acted up, So Im thinkin payday ill go get a new one from Ford and that should fix it. the one I took off is filthy if it is the MAF is probably all gunked up too, so a good clean is in order. Thanks to everyone, and sorry if I came off as a total dick, it was just one of those days, the kind that makes ya wanna get plastered and complain. Anyway, thanks guys.

Typically they will after they've been having a problem for a long time.

Clean your IAC with carb cleaner, and do the same for the ports that it bolts to on the manifold. Make sure you clean those ports well using a pipe cleaner.
