Redlight Idle issue.....wtf!!!

Ok, here it is, When I stop at a light or anywhere for that matter, once in awhile the car flutters then dies.......me being an auto tech I look for codes to no avail , I have checked for a vacuum issue and found none, is this an issue that the 99-04 has? The car has an SCT tuner and when checking it out I turned on the EGR and O2 sensors, plus kicked the idle up from 520 to 710, but, it shows no codes and then, the problem showed up again. A little background for ya, Im a Carb guy, this is the newest pony ive owned, I am in that gray area of transition between 1970 and 1999 so any help would be epic. Let me know what ya think, and help me with a remedy, Thanks.

Thanks for the input to those of you who arent assholes. To those that the asshole attitude applies to, I hope being douches helps you to be better people.lol I thought about it being an IAC issue already, but was hoping that some input would lead me to an easier fix. I thought it might throw a code if it were a sensor issue. Didnt want to throw parts at the problem, like I said the 99-04 is new to me, If it were a 67-68 or a 69-70 or a 71-73 or a 347 ....the list goes on......that ive owned then I would have no trouble with it, but its not, so I was just asking people that might know. Anyway, thanks to those who arent pricks.

There is a special cleaner for your MAF. Don't just use any cleaner, you'll ruin it. Get the right stuff from a parts store.

I have been leaning towards the IAC, but was wondering if it would produce a code. Since they arent an arm and a leg to buy , that will probably be what I change. I appreciate your help. Nice topless pony by the way.

the IAC is the #1 cause of idle issues hands down. Now I could be a dick and say "if you searched the forums that would be the first thing you would find out about idle issues" but I didn't. I said it should be a sticky. That has nothign to do with you.... so get over yourself

Didnt point a finger at you, so if you feel guilty then get over yourself. There is no need for any words otherwise. I asked because I wanted advice, its new ground for me. I work in a shop, they like to buy new parts and put them to use. I was trying to save some dough in this obamaconomy we live in. I dont have a 5000 buck scan tool at home and went on what the SCT said about codes. But I guess the IAC is like running an EKG on a heart, it wont show unless its happening when ya run it, or unless its dead as fried chicken. I ment no bad blood, if I came off that way it was probably the Icehouse anf Moonshine mixture I put in my veins tonight. Anyway, im heading more towards the IAC the more I think on it.

Word, I feel ya. Like I said to folks, Im coming from the world of 750 double pumpers and toploader 4 speeds. Last car was an 87 notch with a 347 carb motor. before that was the 69 Grande and 70 Mach, this 4.6 is new stuff to me. Oh and I was wondering, this car of mine has a cold air intake on it, what issues can that cause with the MAF?
