Strange Scraping Noise Coming From Clutch Cable/Adjuster Inside Of Car

so that's the best way i could describe the problem, because that is exactly what it sounds like. sort of a metallicy scraping, which could be from the clutch cable scraping the firewall adjuster (maybe?!) every time i push the clutch in. not when i tap it, but right when it goes through the "soft spot" right before it becomes tight when engaging or disengaging the clutch

it goes away after a day or two, but when i start giving it extra gas between lights and gears, it comes back and stays for another day or two... even if it JUST stopped making the noise

anyone with any kind of experience with this?

You sure its coming from the cable? Sounds a lot like a throwout bearing or possibly even pilot bearing.

its not underneath the car. i'd know what the TOB would sound like. this is coming from underneath the steering wheel inside of the cabin

the noise is like holding your hand on guitar strings and strumming with a thick pic.... it makes these metally sounds sort of like that

Sounds like a frayed cable perhaps......... or a seized cable.... who knows.
