HID Ordering Qs

Yes, I searched and found many threads. Everyone just seemed to argue and never found a straight answer.

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W

Here's what I plan on ordering. They will be 55w and have hi/low. Just need to know what options I should select. I would like the whitest light possible.

Thanks! +reps.

Read this first, then decide whether you really want HID head lamps. If it's just to look cool then go for it, if it is too see better at night you may want to rethink it.

My brother installed a better known hit in his '99 GT and out in his neck of the middle of nowhere (the Ocala National Forest) it is a scary ride at night--in fog it's like driving with a moving gray wall in front of you...

if you,re doing 55w then i would suggest 6 maybe 8k cuz the color washes out with 55w ballasts.
and if your getting the hi/lo. then that's all you need. hi/lo set up comes with a relay.
your car does not need adapter cables or error eliminators.

Ok here's my .02

Putting HID lights in your factory headlight housings is a bad idea...you need a housings specifically designed to aim and control the HID light beam. Without them you will not have a focused beam and will jot be able to see very well plus you'll blind the shit out of oncoming traffic. True projector housings are what most manufacturers use on cars that come equipped with HID lighting. Once you have the correct housings, the bulbs are categorized by heat range (6000K, 8000K etc.) lower number = brighter light. 4,300K is pure white and offers the best visibility. 6000K has a bluish tint and still offers good visibility. 8000K is a deep blue tint with mediocre at best visibility and 12000K is purple with POOR visibility.

Sorry for the long post but I believe you will find it useful when done right HID's are awesome! Both of my DD's have them 2000 Audi A6 2.7t has 4300K's and my '04 STi has 6000K's but both are using the factory housings designed or HID use

I've been wanting to get some retro fitted head lights so I could actually see at night. . . Where's the best place to go to get the retro fit with the HID kits?

Projectors are more directed, as in directed right into my eyes.
Maybe its because Im so low.
I get blinded by only a few cars with retrofitted HIDs, mainly 300C's. But daily by projectors.
Our fog lights are terrible though, light "bleeds" everywhere.

You know I've heard a lot of people say that so when I put a 5000K 55W kit in my stock housings I had a friend drive my car behind me and then towards me while I drove my other car and they are definitely a brighter then stock lights, but they didn't blind me any worse then other cars on the road. Maybe I'm just use to glare from headlights because I drive low sitting cars and most trucks and suvs have lights at my eye level, but HIDs don't bother me.

I've gotten flashed a couple times in the past year but it's not even a bi-monthly occurrence so it doesn't concern me, I think I get flashed not because I'm blinding someone (I know my lights don't blind me) but because the color of the light gives them the perception that I must have my high beams on since most people associate bright lights with high beams.

MyGT: My 5000K 55W kit is pretty much true white with just the slightest blue tint.

The best option is to take apart your OEM head lights and retrofit Morimoto projectors. You can do this for about $300 - $400.00, depending upon your options. Check out the retrofitsource.com for parts. You have an older mustang so the head lights can be pulled apart after putting them into an oven at 250F. The 2010+ mustangs use a high temperature adhesive which makes the head lights a bear to take apart.

I had sickhid.com retrofit my headlights for my 2011 mustang for $580.00. Of course this means you need to either buy another set of OEMs or an aftermarket head light while you wait for the retrofit. If you retrofit your lights properly, they work great, and you'll have regular and high beams. Here is a youtube video of what mine look like after retrofitting by sickhid.com

Ask Paul. He had the DDM kit, and eventually his drivers side headlight stopped working, then his whole electrical system diarrhea'd on his face. Said there was some other part you need to make it work right... don't remember what...

Don't think the headlights are what caused the electrical system to fail though.
