Powerpipe Installed

Decided to start the New Year off by installing my powerpipe. Car really woke up and the power seems more instant. This may be the year of the build, but for right now this thing is a blast to drive.

Should be okay, but you may want to consider getting the tune looked at it. The stock Vortech intake is such a restriction its not even funny

Talked to my tuner and he said there is no need since it really is not affecting my MAF scale since I am running a blow through set up. He tunes it for the whole MAF scale.

Id datalog your Fuel pump duty cycle to be safe then. From what Ive seen powerpipes pick up alittle boost, but free up a lot of air flow and make a good amount more power. The Vortech intakes like I said flow horribly.

Just for example, I went to a dyno, was getting belt slip. 8psi @ 365rwhp. Took the intake off, made 8psi and 395rwhp. I know a open blower will outflow a powerpipe all day, but just an example.

Should be a 4" pipe. My KMS powerpipe is 4" and aluminum. The MPH powerpipe should also be 4", but plastic.

What did you do for an air filter set up, I have a similar set up for you, and want a Power pipe, but wasn't sure what all it includes,

My powerpipe picked up 2lbs of boost and and about 25hp. Pretty insane over the stock Vortech intake. My setup is making 12lbs at 6200-6300 with nothing but a V3SI, Vortech Aftercooler, 3.60 pulley!!! and AFM powerpipe. 12lbs with a 3.6 pulley and a power pipe.... gotta love an Si trim.

Maybe filters are the restriction? I can't see the powerpipe being a restriction.

Probably the pipe. Airs only coming in a 4" tube that probably flows half the cfm of the blower. Then if you just let the blower run open, its taking the air wherever.

He had one of those big k&n or jlt I forget

What we need to see is dyno results with a powerpipe and filter, just powerpipe without filter, no powerpipe just filter, and no powerpie no filter. I can't see it making a difference if the blower is pulling in air or if the air is being pulled in through the powerpipe without a filter connected. Aren't both openings the same size? Now the filter still needs to do its job of filtering and can be a restriction no matter how big or small the filter is. I've seen people gain some hp by going with cheap filters that do a poor job of filtering vs the better filters. When I get my intercooler installed I'll have to see if my tuner is willing to do a pull with the powerpipe disconnected to see if there is a difference.

I went to a dyno and was making 360rwhp at 8psi with belt slip. Took the intake off, same boost made 395rwhp.

The powerpipe is only allowing air in one direction. An open blower will take air from whetever. But then again, that's for dyno numbers. At the track or on the street this wouldnt work due to taking in hot underhood temps

If its not making MORE boost then its NOT making more hp. The way all of this works is by increasing boost. To pick up 35rwhp you need at LEAST 2lb increase in boost....

No not at all. I'll prove that point when I swap to my better flowing intercooler and bigger pulley. I'll be at the same boost level, but a better flowing intercooler will pick up power.

Cfm matters a lot. Not just boost.
