Mod Routes For 2v

Hey, i just need some input. I have a few ideas for mods and im not sure which route to take.
I wanted to buy the "drop in" cams (Hi Tech stage 2 cams) but recently saw people flaming them because of PTV clearance issues. Im looking into MHS stage 2 or Comp Cams stage 2 with valve springs. Any input on these??

OR

Should i keep putting bolts ons like UDP and TB and Plenum. im looking into 70mm and steeda pullies. I have exhaust, SCT tune 93 race tune, and cold air intake at the moment. If there are any bolt ons that are worth the pretty penny?

Im just a student right now thirsty for some quick power but still use as a daily. What is the best route. Need input from experienced stangers

Thank you

save up and throw some force induction at it. Boltons will just penny and dime you to death. but gears are definitely worth the money

I would do gears. Just got mine in the mail today and can't wait to get them in. But from what everyone says they are worth every penny.

pullies are worthless, throttle body and plenum are worthless

get gears and save for your cams

4.10s and cms stage 2 cams with springs and retainers. witta good suspension and tire the car would be nice with that. bolt ons are an absolte waste. the stock t/b and plenum draw in more than enough air for the stock heads. def do cams and dnt waste $ on small things. you wont be disappointed either

I would do gears for sure. I am under the opinion that every bit helps. The motors in these cars is small at 281ci and to make big power a blower is the way. You need to decided what kind of driving you like before you make too many mods. If you want power but dont want to spend $$$$$ on a blower then think about how the motor works. The more air you get in the better if you can get it out. The larger throttle body and UP will help a lot if you have a good exhaust. You need to let get a lot of air in and out. Cams work better with the larger TB and UP. Gears will help regardless though! Good luck and keep us posted. What is your budget?

Gears all the way. Pretty hard to match the performance feel of 4.10's

yeah and i have an automatic. So all i've heard is 4:10's for them. But i do drive a lot of highway so i didn't know if 3:73 would be better. But i'm going with Ford racing for sure if i get them.

Do you run the CMS stage 2 cams? if so what are your numbers. Plus i do have 2" lowering springs and shocks with 18x10 fr500 and getting nitto Dr's in spring.

Oh and my budget is minimal but i've also been saving for awhile. I want to put about 2k into the cams if i get them. 2k at most. And i've also looked into the on 3 performance turbo but am iffy about the no named turbo deal. If i do something i want to do it right especially since my car only has 20,000 miles on it. i don't need a bent rod or anything broken lol

I just bought 4.10's off here for 95 shipped.

I was going to get hitech stage 2 cams until I read they are not 'true' drop in cams.

I've looked into cms but decided to go with mhs stage 2. From what I've read they dont need upgraded springs. Either way you go get them degreed for sure.

I already have the SCT programmer from AM and some suspension. ive got the 2" drop with shocks. need some C/c plates though lol. But i figured bolt ons would maybe get me 5 hp with everything lol so i figured it wouldn't be worth time. I think I'm going with 4:10's and the mhs stage 2's since ive heard great things about both. Thanks for your input guys.

Any installation prices on these cams?

For an auto, the above 3 will give you the biggest gains on investments. Suspension, control arms, I should have specified.

Last swing at this moth flying around the porch light.

Cams sound like such a cool thing to brag about, but in an auto car, your gains will be ok but not as great as you're thinking they will be.

Convertor, gears and a programmer with some good tires you will cut 1.5-20 seconds off your current time. Throw a $500 nitrous kit and knock another .75 or so off and spend not a lot more than the cams and springs etc that will MAYBE get you .5

Its your car, your time and your money

I tend to think differently than most.

Power without control is a waste. So in my opinion, upgrade suspension, brakes, tires, and full length subframe connectors first. Then work from the bottom up, exhaust, heads/cams, intake. If you plan to stay NA, then the bolt on stuff can't hurt, not going to be big gains, but every little bit helps in my opinion.

According to the MPH website you really need to replace the intake valves to run their stage 2 N/A cams. The CMS website says you need valve springs for the n/a stage two cams. Its going to be an aggressive idle so you will probably need a stall.
