I'm browsing craigslist right now, not really looking for anything specific when I came across an 01 cobra longblock for sale for $500. I kind of put my plans on hold due to lack of money but my FR500s are sold and I have cash leftover from christmas so I could get this thing tomorrow. Seems like a good deal to me but I wanna get your alls opinions.

Miles? You could probably sell your current longblock for that and break even minus the little stuff you'd have to buy.

Why did he pull the whole longblock? Could be a number of things. Really need to get in there and check it out. Before buying it, id atleast pull the oil pan

Good price. If you consider to go look at make sure to pull the pan and check the bottom-end.

They may have swapped in a 03-04 motor or maybe parting a wrecked car.

Dumb question- what's difference between short vs long block?

Short doesn't come with heads and long is complete motor?

yes short block is just the bottom half.

If you can get it complete for 500, and it doesn't have any major problems go for it. Remember you can get 4v motors for under 2k, so if it needs a bit of work you might be better off buying an aviator motor for ~1000-1500. Good luck with it though.

its just an aluminum blocked Gt engine pretty much, same junk rods and pistons. Ported heads, decent cams and let the focker rock out

I jumped the gun on my original post. His ad said about the 01 motor that he was also selling, I read it too fast. Texted him and he wanted more than what I was willing to spend ($2000 on just a longblock w/ valve jobbed heads) but he said he also had a 98 4v longblock. I assume its a mark 8 motor from the 2nd pic, can't really tell though. Not pictured but he said the timing cover and components would come with it as well.

Then I doubt ill pick it up. 500 isn't that good of a price for just a longblock.

i was at Harry's U-Pull-It. last week

get your A** up there on an $80 engine day and pull that motor out of that Bright Red Lincoln Mark VIII in the Ford section of the yard!!!

i pulled the hood down so nobody would notice it except someone who actually knew what they were looking for.
