If the battery still has the juice to start the car on cold mornings then I say it's fine. No sense in replacing it if its working properly. As for the clutch, I have no idea. That probably varies depending on driving style.

But I don't believe I've ever had a battery last 9 years so I think you should expect to replace it soon. Its hard to tell on the clutch. Type of driving (city vs highway) and driving habits (riding the clutch) play a big part in clutch disc life. My clutch was still good at 150,000 miles when I replaced it for a better competition clutch.

When the battery stops holding a charge it's time to replace it. When the clutch starts slipping its time to replace it. You can't put a mileage number on a clutch because it all depends on how the car was driven and the skill level of the driver. I know a guy who got 240,000 out of a stock clutch in a GTI and I know people that burned em up in under 7,000...
If your battery is still starting your car every morning, leave it be. If you are adding a considerable amount of power, upgrade your clutch. Otherwise, if it's working fine, keep using it until its slipping or it's a convenient time to replace it. i.e. you have the trans down for something etc. Hope this helps ![]() Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app

I bought my 03 GT with 125K on the odometer and the clutch wasn't slipping quite yet but was so worn that the stock quadrant couldn't adjust for it anymore. 125K is Guiness Book worthy in my opinion.

technology in battery cells today is making batteries last longer then they should, but seems like when the die it is over night with no warning. My last 2 batteries went out this way this year too. If you can afford itreplace it before your luck runs out at the wrong place. If your worried enough to be wondering about it, means it is a good time to pull out the old wallet and let a few of those green boys out.

Stock battery here! 9 years old 104k miles. Clutch depends on how you drive it and how much additional torque your making. Mine went out at about 85k. Only lasted 5k with the blower. Butpeople get deep into the 100k mark on oem clutch. Ask eagle

I don't think I can definiteively answer.
Believe it or not my dad's pickup ran for 12 years on the factory battery, and he's still got it kicking around as a spare. He replaced it just based on the fact it was 12 years old. And clutch also depends on how you use it. Replace it when it starts slipping. Guys that bang gears and ride the clutch all the time may replace them constantly, and some guys that double clutch (like you should, not granny shiftin') can make them last for hundreds of thousands of miles.
