Best Rear End Gears For 02 Mustang GT?

I'm looking at buying some new gears within a couple of weeks. I have an 02 GT. It's an auto with 121k. I'm wanting a good bottom end but I still want to have a little top end as well. I'm a newbie when it comes to gears. What would you guys recommend? I've been looking at 3.73's but any input is would be appreciated .

on an auto car you cant even tell 3.73's are in there, 4.10's are a minimum & quite a few guys will tell you 4.30's.

4.10s really woke my auto up! I could definitely tell they were there. However I'm sure you would get more out of 4.30s but would lose alot of top end and alot of gas mileage. I mean if u care about those variables.

Thanks man! I heard that 4.10's were better for an automatic from a few people. I just don't want to run too steep of gear. Would that be safe to run for a daily? I just wanna make sure because it's my only car lol

you'll be fine with them on a d/d, you might even pick up a few mpg around town if you can keep you foot out of it, your highway mileage should stay the same.

I do very well on the interstate with them at a constant speed. Stop light to stop light has decreased. Some due to not being able to keep my foot put of it lol. I don't think you will be unhappy with some 4.10s. Anybody who gets 3.73 wishes they would have gone 4.10.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the input. I think I'll look into some 4.10' then. I don't think I'll be able to keep my foot out of it either Mustang_Girl_32

I went with 3.73s on my 03 Gt auto and I could tell. as far as mileage my city stayed the sameor better but on the higway I lost like 2mpg+ or so. My cuizing rpm went up 500rpm or better so it has no choice but to burn more gas if its higher up in the rpm on the highway. It would have been nice to keep the same mpg and it sounds good when ppl say it stays the same with a gear swap but it goes down a bit on the highway. Not saying get 3.73s over 4.10s im saying not to expect the same mpg on the highway. http://www.mpgenhance.com/differential.html not trying to or going to argue with anyone just look at the silmple math and logic to determine if the increase in rpm will be burning more gas when someone tells you there is absolutely no change in hwy cruizing mileage. Same concept of changing out the sprockets on bikes Great for take off/launching but hurts the top end/higher speeds and mileage.

it doesn't hurt to help out the new guys/gals, if you see a topic repeated, just don't look at the tread if it bothers you.
