FRPP Aluminum Driveshaft Problem

Maybe it's not a problem, but better safe than sorry..I was gunna install my FRPP driveshaft that I ordered from American Muscle about a year ago (Never got around to installing it lol), and when I had both driveshafts next to eachother, the new aluminum one was about half an inch longer than the stock one. My friend's dad who was helping us was really concerned that the size difference could mess with the tailshaft of the trans if I hit a bump or something and it caused the driveshaft to go in a tad...Is this normal or should I be flipping on someone?

Unfortunately I can't get my hands on another FRPP driveshaft lol. And cobra's are different, but I definitely ordered the right one.. And it fit into the tailshaft just fine; we're just worried it would go in further than the stocker and possibly cause damage if something was maybe cut wrong at the factory

Cobra drive shafts are shorter due to the extra length of the t56

kinda of curious where your measuring from, are you including the yoke.

the reason I'm asking is there are diffrent yokes depending on which driveshaft you have.

fyi, all 79-04 mustangs (except irs cobras) use the same basic shaft so the basic shft on yours being the wrong length would be strange

The drive angle is so shallow that 1/2" difference in overall length will make less than 0.2" difference in travel. Insert the tranny end into the tail housing and push it fully forward, if the pinion drive flange is 3/4" to 1" or more from the pinion flange with the rear-end hanging then you are good to go...

X2!! how long the drive shaft is, is not an exact measurement and there is some give in how long it is.

hm. I wish I had access right away, I'd check again. I measured from end to end of the shaft, not including the yoke; the yoke was the same length. I'll have to check up on it as soon as i can get back onto my friend's lift and get back to everybody. Thanks for the input

if your car is an automatic and the drive shaft is for a manual i think it fits nice if you remove the yoke? that's what i've heard so if thats the situation maybe remove the yoke, does it drive oddly?
