I Got 99 Problems
well, not 99, but a few. put sfc's on the car tonight, and while up on my buddies lift, he pointed out i have coolant running down the side of the transmission tunnel. awesome. then, at the back end, noticed that i have oil coming out of the pinion seal. rearend has about 3k on it. tits mcghee, and i also got a a throw out bearing going bad.
never noticed oil where i part from the rearend, and thought i had a coolant problem awhile back, but did a system test and it didn't show any leak at 15PSI on the coolant system. what the heck could it be? hopefully leaking at the manifold instead of the cylinder heads. dunno what to do about the rearend, other than have it rebuilt again (wife will be happy lol). it's also making a "wah wah wah" sound on deceleration. if the headgasket is bad i'll lose it.

it COULD be that, but from where i saw the coolant, doesn't seem it would be. i didn't see any on the head though so perhaps.

Antifreeze, idk. Mine must be leaking too because everytime I check it in 2 weeks its low. Hopefully its not going into the motor.
The rear end, probably just needs to be resealed. Pretty common

as far as the coolant leak, my friend pointed out that it could be the o ring on the coolant pipe running through the valley. i'll have to let it warm up and check it out later on. possibly tomorrow, supposed to be kinda nice here today.

The seal in front of the pinion is a royal pain in the ass seeing that it requires you to reset the pinion lol.

i have re-done the pinion seal with out opening up the diff. you gotta have good sense of touch to set the pre load considering the crush collar has be crushed already. this time i used a solid collar so i dont have to swap it out anymore. as for the coolant good luck, 2v's manifolds, and heater cores are always a problem.
btw if it is a real small leak in the rear end i would just leave it and check the level every so often.

there is a fill plug at the front driver side of the rear end. it uses a 3/8th drive to remove it. it is just above the shoulder.

If your Head Gasket were bad, the coolant would never leak out the side of the block. It'd burn up inside before it ever made it out. Plus is normally leaks into the cylinder or oil passage. I'd put $20 on a leaking heat core hose.
Just tell your body your leaks are "Rust-Prevention"!

i let it get fully warm today, and didn't find where it was leaking from from up top, so i'm not sure. my coolant levels are ok, so i don't know. it is coming from an area where you'd think it would be the heater core though, on the passenger side. weird thing is when i put in my driveshaft loop, the carpet beneath my driver side floorboard was damp, but not the passenger side, which is where it should be damp i would think. is there a drain somewhere for the heater core? i've never had this problem in this mustang.
to top it off, i changed the oil in my wifes car and my dodge truck today, and while under my dodge, noticed that there is a coolant leak on the 4.7 in my truck as well. i can see where its coming from though, appears to be around the water pump like the gasket is bad. only has 50k miles on it so i wouldn't think it'd be leaking that soon but no surprise. i'm gonna keep driving it and monitoring my levels on both vehicles lol.
