Next Mod: Which Option

looking ahead to next mods, my goal is within 1 year. just thinking what would be best at this point in my setup to do. it's impossible not to think ahead when you got the car mod bug. few options are:

1. e85 & turbonetics t76 bb turbo

2. e85 trickflow heads/turbo-cams/intake

3. e85 sfc, lca, 3600-3800 stall

I definitely want to hear any other idea's, thanks guys
Joshua

If going with those options I would do them in the order of 3,1,2

Help it hook now then boost it and get used to the power and finally add heads cams and intake to maximize your turbo charged thrill ride lol

not to sound dumb but what is a j-mod? the 4r70 is built in the car I just put too small a stall in it 2800 I think. what size wheels/tires are best for that power range stall?

@dhicks7806: car is boosted now new dyno specs coming Monday. agreed though hooking is my main issue. taking to track for 1st time ever when weather changes. how you like your sti? my buddy used to have one it was sweet.

if your trans is built you probably have a valve body/shift kit installed. a j mod is just a diy shift kit. as for tq converter size i would get ahold of dirty dog or tci and have them look at your dyno charts to determine what size you need. they will see when the power comes in and size one up for you

oh okay yeah I spoke with them once before but setup was entirely different. I need to be able to make it jump off the line.

all your choices are interesting but you (or anyone with a fuel injected car thinking about it for that matter) should do your homework on the e-85 thing.

there seems to be at least some consideration in congress of cutting subsidies for ethanol & without the subsidies estimates of the cost of a gallon of e-85 could rise as much as 3.00 per gallon (some studies suggest twice that).

just something to do your homework on before you make the substantial investment in switching to e-85.

got you Casper thanks for the heads up. mainly look for another cooling method for the car since I'm trying to go to the track this year and therefore getting more aggressive on the car. other thoughts were snow performance stage 2 kit. I know you're a track guru was hoping you'd drop on this thread, anything track wise you'd suggest?

I'm looking into an on3 kit now & if I was to go thru with it, I am just gonna have my local guy ceramic coat all the piping once any required mods are done (I'd be using an AJE/QA1 set up instead of the upr stuff) & a tubo blanket.

other than that I'll be letting the chips fal where they may on the heat issues.

wrapping some of the piping while it's in the shop now. you can't slam a car with the On3 setup on an auto but I've outgrown that obsession with style over performance and don't care if it's slammed. i just like the nose lower than the rear. did a bumpsteer kit, I'd like to see your car with the kit since you're an experience track driver.

I'm far beyond the whole lowered car thing, my car is stock heigh & will stay that way.

the whole track thing is why I'm on the fence about the deal. don't want to give up trunk space but would like a small shot to spool the turbo & need somewhere to put it.

most likely I'll do the k-member/coilover install while I'm deciding.

very nice that'd be a awesome setup I think. Idk if you looked on On3's site but it says their 2v test car 5-speed with the kit and only flowmasters ran a 12.13 @ 119 mph. I'm eager to see times & trap speeds with this kit. I agree about the trunk space, that's why I wanted e85 rather than a meth kit in the trunk but I'll wait and $6.09 at the pumps here right now so that's a bit steep for me.

I'm getting it DynoTuned Monday night @ 15-16 psi. If that works out may try 17-18 psi. Previously made 450's around 10.5 psi, the nt555s were preventing a full tune so I got that pair of nt05r 315's for $300 . Going to try and film it and post it in a thread on here, I know a lot of people wonder about how far the On3 kit will take you and some even questioned it being bhp instead of whp when I had it dyno'd previously.

Why would tires prevent your tune?

slipping on the rollers might have been the logic for that

Unless those tires were dry rotted to hell causing a dust storm every time they tried to hit the rollers there is vary little chance he is spinning. Or your tuner is tuning in a vary low gear. I have seen my car spin on a dyno but all we did was tighten the straps and throw some weight in the trunk.

didn't say it was good logic, lol, but it does have some background, otherwise there wouldn't be people making a living coating/beading dyno rollers.
