Using a Tuner
Not sure where to put this, so sorry if this is the wrong forum. I recently bought a used Diablosport Predator for my 02 GT. I have used both the 87 and 93 octane tunes. There is quite a bit of difference in the car, throttle response is better, gas mileage, hp, and torque have all been increased. But, I would like to use this tuner to optimize my car's potential. I have searched, but I cannot find any threads or articles on adjusting A/F, advancing timing, or any of the other adjustments you can make. I see where I can make adjustments, but what parameters am I looking for? Where should my A/F be? What do I look for before increasing spark? If anyone can point me in the correct direction, it would be much appreciated.

Forgot to add, my mods are K&N CAI, O/R H-pipe, Flowmaster 40's, Steeda Tri-Ax, and I have a home ported plenum/tb combo waiting to be installed.

Do you have a wideband? That is the only way to read A/F. IMO with your minor mods the can'ed tunes on the predator will be as optimal as you need.

No wideband, but I thought the tuner would show A/F. What about timing?

Till you get into some serious mods like cams or head jobs then the preset tunes is all you need. I would not mess with the a/f at all unless you buy a a/f gauge so you can monitor it and keep it withing safe levels. You get that too far out of whack and you can seriously damage your engine.

What they said. The canned tunes have already adjusted your A/F and spark timing to somewhat conservative but safe levels. If you noticed an improvement and don't have any spark knock issues, your pretty much as good as it gets and still remain safe. The only better option would be to find a local shop that supports Diablo and get a dyno tune. They could probably pull a few more HP out and still keep it safe.
