Cams Aren't to low end torque friendly, I was just stating that because someone mentioned you couldn't go faster than 110 but with cams you can go well into the 120 mark with an auto and 4.10s, you can rev an engine higher with cams due to all the extra air, if you want low end torque then you probably don't want cams and should get a pd blower, but then again you'd be happy with just some 4.10s

Well I will be going with the 4.10s...can't wait!
As for HP direction I'll need to continue going through the thought process. A pd blower is certainly out of the question, just too much $$$ for me to put out. I too enjoy the sound of a cam'ed car so I will most likely go with a new cam. I'm thinking that either going NA or SC I would still need to increase air flow so a new plenum and TB would be in order. Should that be a 70 or 75 MM? Then a CAI to go along with the new TB. Hopefully by that time I'll know which way I'm going. Appreciate everyone's input, not only on this thread but the entire forum. A great group of enthusiasts with a wealth of information. Thanks! |

4.10s installed today got home and installed the tune from SCT. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! These gears bring this baby to life! Very glad I went with this as my first mod. Now on to some maintenance work. Rotors/pads all the way around and new shocks/springs. Then onto HP gains.

I have always disliked that expression. There is no universially best gear. Gears should be picked for how the car is going to be used.

I have a 5spd and 4.30s. DD and drive it from Missouri to Texas at least once but usually twice a year. I personally love them, especially with sticky tires.

I just mentioned the trip because it seems that alot of people think low gears make a car virtually undrivable. My car was an auto and 4.30s were great.

I agree. We should listen to the requirements. That is probably why the OP already bought and installed 4.10s.
