Turbo Build - 01 Bullitt

Ok, this is my first official post at this forum but I have been reading around here for a while. I am in the middle of a turbo build-up for my 01 Bullitt. I ordered the kit from HP Performance a while ago, it is supposed to ship on the 7th (in 2 days).

I am planning on building up some other parts of my car while I am at it. I will be installing everything by myself (except resurface flywheel, and tune), as I have access to a whole garage.

Let me know what you think about the setup I am planning on going with. Any advice or experience would be appreciated, and mabye some nice places to get the parts for cheap.

-HP Performance Twin Turbo Kit, no add-ons, minus chip
-Boost Gauge, Fuel Pressure Gauge (Wide-band to expensive for now)
-315/35R17 BFG Drag Radials on 17x10.5 MRT Replica Wheels
-Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
-RAM throwout bearing??? (Need help on this one)
-UPR chromoly rear control arms (upper & lower)
-31 spline Mosers
-Eaton Posi
-Driveshaft safety loop, Weld axle tubes, weld subframe connectors, spark plugs

I have heard about welding something else in your axle to make it stronger, and stronger wheel studs. I am hoping to make 450-460 rwhp, and this should all hold up nicely even with the 315 BFG DR.

I also already have full bolt-ons, and 4.10 gears. I want to be able to hook up in 1st gear w/ everything I am doing. Might not be possible, I am not sure.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, I am still looking for the best way to have my car tuned. I am not trying to spend all this money just to have it blow up due to a crappy tune. I have heard really good stuff about Modular Powerhouse (I am in the NC area).

Again, any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

First off welcome to the site...

Dude Modular Powerhouse will do you very well...

Thats where my stuff is from and they are the only ones I trust enough to tune my car...

www.modularpowerhouse.com

They have done quite a few bullet poweradders...Hell I dont know of a modular mustang they havent done...

So What all is coming with you HP kit?

When you say you didnt get any of the add-ons do you mean you deleted the fuel, suspension, and such?

I ordered the kit just the way it came, minus the chip. So it comes with everything I need such as injectors, pump, k-member all that. I just mean I didn't have any add-ons such as electronic boost control, larger blow-off valve etc.

im not saying modular powerhouse isn't good, because they are, but holy hell, too many people swing on there nuts. they aren't the only people who know how to tune a car. tuning a car is not the most difficult thing to do. you can only do so much with timing, and fuel and once your not making any more power thats it. not to say they suck, because they are obviously good at what they do, but they have too many nut swingers. anybody can force feed a 2v a shit ton of boost and make a ton of power but i haunt seen anything real impressive as far as n/a goes come out of that shop. just stating my views and opinions

anyways good luck and where are you located?

All there engines are built by Pro-Line...They speacialize in forced induction modulars (they are really big for 2V's)...They have done tons of the turbo installs and such...

Oh well...I guess Im a nut swinger...But its the closest shop to him that I know for a fact can do the job...Because he is located in NC...

but what im saying who cant build a forged modular motor and just boost the living shit out of it. just about any shop who has some brains can do it. they do well, i just get tired of hearing all this modular powerhouse is the only tuner in this country who can build and tune a mustang correctly. cuz its bs. its nothing against you Chris, its just my opinion.

Point taken...But over here on the east coast there is no one other then them...There are other tuners around but none of them have had the e3xperience and such like MPH has...Im sure there are better/equal tuners on the east coast but I dont know of them...Its different on your side of the states because there are other tuners over there that alot of you guys go with...I dont take it personally...I dont ahve a kick back or anything with MPH...I just share my great experience with them and the cars I have seen them build and such...And I also cant say enough about the way they stand behind their product...

Like I said if I was where you are located bro I would be using a tuner on that side of the country...But on the East Coast...MPH is the way to go...

yeah, anything that comes out of Pro-Line is top notch and very expensive. Some guy by the name of Petty does most of their work....

BlckBullit01:

If you've worked on modular 'stangs at all you should have no problem with the HP turbo kit. I helped a friend of mine install one about 2 months ago and it took about 4 hours from start to finish. He already had the front suspension finished though. Very easy, everything fitted like it was supposed to. Did you get the twin 56's or 67's?

As far as tuning, man, if you've spend the money to come this far, get an aftermarket ECU like a FAST or BigStuff3 or MoTec. You can tune those systems on the fly and don't have to go back to somebody every time you want to change the a/f maps. As far as who to take it too, you got me. I live in Texas so I'm not much help there.

Lol this thread is from way back. If anybodys wondering heres a little update:

Car put down 420 rwhp and 460 rwtq @ 7 psi. Tuned at MPH. Installed this kit about a year ago now, and am still running stock tranny and rear end (Bullitt's did come with an upgraded clutch).

Plans for this summer include self-porting my intake manifold, tb, and heads, and getting a full 3" exhaust all the way back.

Fastlane motorsports is the place to go if he is in NC. They have quite a few twin turbo cars already under their belt. they have 1 04 cobra that is make 876 on stock block, and they're building another 04 cobra that is also twin turbo. They have a twin turbo 98 saleen that is running 10's at the track. So i would call them up and see what they can do for you.

They're in Dunn, North carolina about 25 miles from Raleigh

A good one is going to run around 6 grand. Now that I have been through the process, I would have no problem fabbing up my own kit if I could find the right tubing. If your not familiar with all this, I definetly recommend a full kit.
