Need MORE Termi help (clutch)

I'm at a total loss of what to do now. I installed the clutch quadrant, firewall adjuster, and cable tonight from UPR. I first ran into issues with how fucked up the UPR stuff is. Nothing was threaded right. We had to drill out the holes because they weren't big enough. I took the dust cover off as recommended. I inspected the clutch (no coloring. looks stock?). Now, according to someone when I bought the car, it was supposed to have a stage 2 clutch with stock cable and quadrant. Well thinking this would be a 20 minute job, I went head first into the floorboard to get the new quadrant in. Needless to say after 2 and a half hours, we finished. Now the car goes into gear flawlessly. Not quite butter, but better than it was, but now the clutch is HARD AS F*CK, as in the pedal is now unbelievably hard to push in, not anything like it was with the stock cable. It doesn't have the eventual give like it did, or the recoil (lack of better terms).

Cliffs:
Car was hard to get in gear
Installed UPR quadrant, adjuster, and cable
Removed dust cover (looked stock/no identifiable color)(was told stage 2 clutch when I purchased the car)
Now it shifts amazingly
The clutch pedal is EXTREMELY hard to push down.
I'm now lost.

sounds like you may have looped the cable wrong and it is getting excess drag when you push it in.

We routed it just like the stock one. My friend said usually he can get the cable off with one hand using channel locks (on the fork) but he said he had to use all his might to get it off with 2 hands. The fork is on the pivot ball too, so now what do I check?

What stal said, I had this issue too. I'm confused though did you put an aftermarket cable in? If so put the stock cable in. Much better. The cable was routed wrong or is at a bend so the clutch pedal is stiffer, and doesn't come up as quick. You'll notice if you let the car warm up, its slightly easier to push in.

Just check it out again, make sure its not at a bend or anything

Well when it was disconnected we moved it back and forth in the cable... Little to no resistance... Is there a break-in period for a new cable?

I'm guessing these symptoms aren't really leading to it being a clutch problem?

No break in period for a cable. I have gotten a few after market clutch cables that are longer than stock which don't ever work out. Did you also remember the 8mm bolt that holds the cable to the fender

Damn stals to quick. Yeah aftermarket are usually to long and you'll have to bend it at a certain angle so the pedal will be stiffer. Use the oem cable. I'm telling you. So much better.

And yea don't forget about the bolt in the fenderwell that goes into the bracket on the cable.

Ok, the cable is still attached and isn't in a bind. It moves freely throughout the cable sheathing.
I'm almost 100% sure the cable is the same length.

it could be the cable, or it could be the sleeve on the tob needs greese. they are common to break and go bad so if you drop the trans i would swap it out.

Also make sure your new quadrant is shimmed properly or you chew your cable up

Have you tried lubricating the cable inside the sheath? Either with powdered graphite or teflon spray?

Ok, the clutch wasn't as stiff before the new stuff. Now it is.
So before the pedal was easier and shifting was harder.
Now, the pedal is harder and the shifting is easier.

The cable moves just as good as the stock cable did so, why exactly would it affect how hard the clutch pedal is when we didn't mess with the clutch? I'm only asking because it was fine before. I basically traded one problem to another, well I would think so. Do any of you think it could be the clutch that is being the issue?

^^this...all the research I have done basically points to the stock cable being the way to go. People have problems all the time using aftermarket cables...
