wheel stud broke now what

i was putting on my new wheels and was breaking the lugs loose and with barley any effort one broke off.. i lifed the car started taking the lug nuts off and the last one right before it would come off, just starts spinning which i assume the stud is spinning with it. so i put the lug nuts back on and could not get that last one to tighten anymore like it was spinning again. so i assume i have 2 studs to replace, i backed out and drove 10 ft and there was vibrating coming from the passenger front(which the broken studs are) is this caused by the studs being like this? and if so am i going to have to tow it to a shop and have them replace the studs aswell as the hub? any info would help never had this happen before.

If its the front the studs they are pretty easy to replace..

Just go to autozone and get new ones..

I had it happen to my front studs like 8 years ago on my cougar. Just bang them out with a hammer and replace them with new ones.

they are easy to replace, and they are only a couple bucks each.

usually no more than 2 bucks per stud

check the hub assembly and make sure the stud hole is not cracked

as previously stated, knock stud out and press new one in

knock the old ones out with a hammer and put the other ones in. if you dont want to try and bang the other ones in put spacers on the stud and put the bolt on and tighten it down untl you see the stud is all the way in.

Dont take it to a shop, worst case scenario you just buy a new assembly for 40-5 bucks and end up with a new wheel bearing too.

if they wont easily come out a little heat goes a long way, just get a propane torch and heat up the hub assembly a bit and you'll be good to go.

I don't take off the brakes and rotors. But it is alot easier if you do. I use a magnet stick to fish the stud threw

Punch the stud out.
Place new stud in hole.
Hand tighen a lug nut on it.
Tighten with a breaker bar.
Make sure its sucked into the hole properly.
Voila, job well done.

It's a lot easier with an impact gun. I did this two days ago, literally took 10 minutes once I got everything off.

Of course its easy with an impact gun but someone can do it just as fast if not faster than I did in my vid with simple hand tools. I made a few mistakes
