Question

Vortech questions

I am thinking about picking up a vortech V1-SQ complete kit soon here but i just don't know if its a good idea..

My car is completely stock except gears and exhaust and i have an sct tuner..

I guess my question is will this kit blow my motor or tranny or rear end?
I would definitely go with a conservative tune so what would my numbers look like if i dyno'd considering my short list of mods? What are some things i need to be cautious of running this kit on a stock motor?

It comes with a 2.8 pulley.. I heard that i would need a bigger pulley to run on a stock motor. True or false?

Thanks.

i take it your buying a used kit. for a v2 s trim i would go with a 3.33 if non-intercooled and want to put out roughly 10-11#. if you want to keep it safe a 3.6 pulley will make around 7-8# non ic. as for hp you will make depends on how agressive your tune is. if you run the 3.6 pulley with lets say 14 degrees timing non intercooled you could see between 350-360. if you run the 3.33 pulley with 14 degrees timing you could see 360-370 hp. safe tune for me would be 11.4-11.6 af with 14 degrees timing and have the computer pull timing at intake temps over 100 degrees.

2.8 is going to be way to much to run Like stall said. You will be fine running the above mentioned combination without the fear of blowing your motor. these motors are tougher then they get credit for. It is rare for one to blow unless it has been severly abused beyond its capabilities or poorly maintained.

In general 8 psi non-intercooled or 10 psi intercooled is reasonably safe. The transmission and rear end will be fine unless you are doing hard launches with drag radials at the track and power shifting.

13.4AFR????

A 3.6 pulley and a power pipe would work great and get you to 10lbs probably. My V3Si makes 12lbs with a 3.6 pulley and a power pipe at 6200 RPM...

13.4? My car is dialed in at 11.75:1 from 3000-6500rpm. Typo?

i was just saying on the super safe side. the guy asked a question about non ic setups and keeping it fat is safe for them. imagin intake temps over 200 degrees on a summer day. more fuel = cooler intake temps. sure you give up a few hp but it will prevent detonation.

You'll get used to it sooner or later. Good luck man
