Cleaned the engine (pics inside) but never noticed this till now

Well like it stated I cleaned the engine granted I did it the most unsafe way probably Lol if you really want to know ill tell.
Now I generally keep my engine clean but discovered a powerful cleaning tool.

I didn't know our blocks looked like this though (never got down and dirty with the clean)

Before I cleaned

Afrer I cleaned

Its almost a white silver medium silver. And This is just purely mental probably but the engine feels healthier.

I used a ventilated mask
Gloves
Tilex with bleach
And high pressure water
Microfiber towels or paper towels.
Took me about 10-15 mins too look like that but I had to roll my windows down to let the inside of the car air out as well afterwards.

That's because the cleaner you used is caustic and has etched the aluminum. I did it on a customers valve cover one day by accident

It reacted with the aluminum and ate away at it a bit and left deposits. Thats why its a new color...

I found that after a good cleaning, spraying some Black Magic Tire shine over the engine (fallow instructions as for tires) works very well, and gives it a look lasting shine. Just don't get it on the belt.

Ah well thanks for the input I knew there was a reason this stuff wasn't used haha. I'll stick with basic cleaning then and won't use this product anymore.
