Question

Automatic Revy

This is for the auto guys primarily, but if you have some input please feel free. From a dig, my car has a serious issue of always banging revy going into 2nd. It seems to have gotten worse since I've had the car, or maybe I just now notice it. But when I install my tune (basically a canned sct) it practically never hits revy. I almost constantly DD with the tune loaded up until recently. I had a feeling I was banging my trans too hard with the tune and a friend keeps telling me that my trans is starting to go. So I took the tune off and now im banging the limiter just about every day. Is this normal for autos? Or is my trans just taking a shit?

need a little more description, i'm assuming this is only when your wot that your hitting the limiter? do you have aftermarket gears in it? a stock tune with different gears could cause the shift points to be way off. also i would just put the tune back on, unless everything on the tuner is maxed out there's no reason why it should be hurting your car.

Make sure your tune compensates for your rear end gears. I'm using a canned tune as well but have never hit the rev limiter. The only prob I have is at wot when the car shifts, sometimes the belt squeals from the sudden drop in rpm.

Have you made any internal modification to the tranny?

I'm wondering if the rev limiter is set at a lower RPM than what the shift point RPM is. This would be very bad, but could cause you to hit the limiter before the computer tells the trans to shift.

If they are very close together (shift RPM/limiter RPM), you might try lowering the RPM shift point a little bit so the car doesn't rev into the limiter. Or, if you shift points are perfect, try raising the limiter a couple hundred RPM. This would allow the trans to shift properly without bouncing off the limiter.

A lower gear would exacerbate this problem.

Correct, only at WOT. Stock 3.27s. And im thinking I will just put the tune back on because I never hit revy while tuned. It only happens when I'm running stock tune.

My tune is set up for the stock rear so I don't think that's my problem. Again it only happens when I'm running the stock tune; as soon as I load the canned tune it never happens.

Tranny is completely stock. I think you're right, maybe I just need to raise the limiter.
