Thanks for all the advice guys I'll definitely look into that pan shark, glad to see you it's been a while. I'm still not sure what I'm doing yet but I'm narrowed down to staying on the centri path or selling everything and just waiting to do a blower since this would allow me to get cams for now which would save me money and give me a little more power to have fun with.

Here's another idea... Get an aftermarket oil pan that's already tapped.

I would just stick with what you have and make it work. You'll need a tuner and a tune either way, you might as well finish what you started instead of having to start all over again. If you think there's gonna be a big price difference, think again.

I've already had this stuff sitting for well over a year and I'm still no where near finishing it. I still need to have the head unit rebuilt and get the bracket kit so everything I just mentioned adds up to like 2k, which in my mind would be a torktech kit and then I just need to sell my vortech stuff and buy a used eaton and a sct tuner and I can do everything myself except the tune. Honestly I don't know what I really am going to/want to do that's why I decided to see what MM has to say

And for the record, torktech kits are retarded. The stock cobra blower is crap, and the big PD blowers that you'd use on torktech would just blow your car up.

If you're really that crunched for money, maybe you should think about putting your cash somewhere else. You'll never see it back by putting it into one of these cars.

^ Best quote yet. I also run a Centri and only shredded one belt, and it's the shit one supplied with the kit. Problem fixed and pounded on daily (well almost) and no issues.

I have the money honestly I'm just trying to be careful how I spend it. I'm kind of hesitant to sink everything I have into something in case something was to happenn but that's just me lol. I'm probably just gonna finish the centri kit unless I see a good deal come across. Glad the hear you have had no problems^ that's all I want is reliability this car is my dd now since I had to sell my other two cars.

Pulley alignment is very important. I ran my first belt 20,000 miles. I noticed some wear so I changed it. I ran my second belt 30,000 miles. That was about 5,000 miles too far. I saw serious wear but was too lazy to change it. It shredded and damaged the front seal on my supercharger.

I sent the head unit in to get fixed and ran 6-week without a supercharger. When I put it back together but I must have lost a spacer. The next belt went in 7,000 miles. The next one 2,000 miles. Somehow I damaged a seal again and changed it for $30. I then got serious. Instead of just sighting in the pulleys I used a straight edge to zero it in. I found that my head unit was dead-on on the altenator side but one rib off on the side away from the altenator. No wonder I was shredding belts.

Using the straight edge I finally got the pulley aligned and I've driven maybe 10,000 miles without shredding a belt. Actually the belt still looks good. But I have decided that as a part of my preventive maintenance I will change belts every 20,000 miles.

My opinion is that 95% of the time if you are shredding belts its pulley alignment. 4% of the time the tensioner is worn out. 1% is for all the other reasons.

it was my tensioner that caused mine. Got a new tensioner and new belt a couple of years ago and no problem since then.

Well it's kinda random from what I had plans but I found a great deal and pulled the trigger on an on3 kit now but this is really good information. Thank you for sharing this, reps to you sir.

This thread was entertaining. I was waiting until I finished reading all the posts to say "man up and tap the damn oil pan."
Glad you made a decision!
