i have spent alot of time burried in the photo forums (here and on SVTP) searching for engine bay photos.

it looks to me the biggest things that will make the most difference is the valve covers, intake manifold, and the timing cover. i'm also working on polishing up my alternator as well

This is on my XR7, not the GT, but it may give you some ideas:

In the engine bay, I laid down a few gray base coats, a few coats of black/white flecks, then three coats of clear. It's just something different. The underside of the car is painted flat black, with a mix of bare aluminum and painted satin black suspension pieces.

I left the engine block in its bare aluminum state, but I had the valvecovers and timing cover powdercoated "chrome" (which actually looks like bare aluminum).

I honestly couldn't care less what my engine bay looks like. If it looks good, that was an accident. It's mean to be functional, nothing more, nothing less. Besides, I'm not popping my hood at the track, so who cares?
